In a recent study based on several factors (most notably natural disasters), the Philippines was chosen as the world's most dangerous country. How ironic then that to me at least, I find it to have the world's most friendly people. I am not surprised Finn that you have enjoyed the hospitality of the locals during your visit. Let's hope as a result of your trip, more people choose Batanas as a vacation destination so the people can enjoy the fruits of tourism. They deserve it. When I see those stone homes, I'm reminded of the great quote from the character Rocky Balboa "You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. A place that requires a travel too far just to see the western coastline of either the United Kingdom and east of Ireland, of course, without living like inside the fridge. that sleepy province of Batanes is the safest part of the Phils ... i remember being there with my family almost worrying nothing except traveling with my co- tourist ....... people are really friendly even those Policemen , who have nothing to do all day , hahahaha .... taken pictures with them and those tricycle boys who are tourist guide also .... the only problem , besides internet are batteries for my drone , my cellphone cam, and memory cards ..... there is no ending in capturing those views .....

Believe it or not, this is how the Filipinos are in the olden times all over the country. Because of the remoteness and isolation of Batanes, it is slow to change. The people there barely changed their behavior while the rest of the country changed. It is common before to offer a shelter to travelers who have nowhere to stay at night. The best bedroom in the house is offered to strangers. Free food was also offered to strangers.

Batanes is so near to Taiwan you can see it from the farthest Batanes island. Blue is the color of serenity and maybe that explains the kind of blue sky Batanes has.
