Just how pathetic it is to watch this! Not just that we have the (now) classic Serie A New Stadium - story! Meaning, having a brilliant new stadium presented with animation, and then, waiting for a few years, "hoping" that something will happen, that this case would be different than 90+% of all the others, and then, after a few years, the reality bites! NONE OF IT IS HAPPENING! And in the case of Fiorentina, especially after the new, Italian-American wealthy owner took over the club, everyone's hopes increased, and people began believing that this will become reality! Especially because the new owners said that building the new stadium is crucial in his plans for bringing Fiorentina back at the top of Serie A and take it again, amongst the elite of European teams, plus the city council wasn't making problems the way they had in Rome, but even gave a location where this magnificent new stadium could/would be build! But then, the familiar problems began! The new owner and the city couldn't agree over the price of the land (I won't point a finger at any of them, because I really don't know who's right - although I have no doubts that it could be either way - American wanting to purchase the land way to cheap, or the city wanting to capitalize from the American and sell the land way to expensive, either way IT'S A SHAME), along with other "smaller" problems constantly being put out in the public, so that now, finally, we hear that instead of building THIS beautiful project, Fiorentina will renovate the old stadium! NOW, TELL ME, HAVE YOU HEARD ANYTHING MORE PATHETIC than that?!? SHAME ON SERIE A, ON COMISSO, ON FIRENZE AS A CITY AND ITALY AS A COUNTRY! You guys appear like a THIRD WORLD COUNTRY where nothing ever gets done! Just look at the rest of Europe! Entire former Eastern Europe has way more beautiful, and most of all, NEW AND MODERN football stadiums! Even the Balkans, the so called most problematic European part, gets things done 100 times faster than Italy! I won't even mention the big and powerful countries like Poland, Russia... First, they were talking and writing for months how Comisso and Firenza City Council can't come to an agreement about the price of the land he was supposed to buy, where the new stadium would've been build (and pay attention, it's in the center of the city, very attractive place, where they have an old bazzar now, that'll be removed, and it's only about 1km. from current stadium! Does it get any better than that?!), then they completely stopped all negotiations for 2, 3 months, then the rumors about potential renovation of the old/current stadium began, as a possibility... so that nowadays, they're talking about which version to choose, and how should be done, how long renovations will last, etc, etc... Meaning.... THIS GORGEOUS stadium in the video will never be build (not in Florence, at least), and Fiorentina will have to settle with some version of it! And unless some miracle happens (but I doubt it), that's how it's gonna be! Cuz this case has nothing to do with the new law Italian federal government has brought about the building of new stadiums. Other teams could benefit from it, but not Fiorentina, cuz they didn't have that problem to begin with - their only problem was the price of the land. And regardless of whoever was right, the main thing is that the club losses. I know Comisso is ambitious and truly wanna bring LaViola back at the top of Serie A (they can fight for Europa even this year, despite the foolish selling of Chiesa), but without a top of the art, cutting edge stadium like this one, in a town like Florence, one of the most visited in Europe by the tourists fro all over the world, with a big army of supporters, long traditions, legendary footballers from all over the world who have played in it... the club can't make enough money to compete with the best in Serie A. Milan and Inter are coming back for sure (in Europe, not just Italy), Napoli's amongst Top 15 strongest Euro clubs for 13 years now and will only get stronger, once they build their new stadium. They will benefit from that new law and will finally get a new, modern arena, strictly for football, owned by the club, which will make them much stronger financially, and they are very decent even like this - have you ever heard Napoli to have FFP problems, yet they buy & have expensive players all the time (they are also very smart businessmen) but will get even stronger in 4, 5 years. And maybe even Lazio and Roma will finally build their new modern stadiums (and in that case, once one of them starts, the other will soon follow, trust me), so Fiorentina will stay on the level of trying to be better than Bologna, Sampdoria... Sad but true!

Let's hope that this time, it'll really happen, 'cause both the city (one of the most beautiful in the world, with amazing architecture, should have a state of the art football stadium as well, not Artemio Franchi, which is everything BUT) and the club desperately needs it! It looks stunningly awesome, I hear the capacity is 40K (which is more than 8K less than Artemio Franch, but on the other hand, Fiorentina's average attendance is 30K, so this new stadium will give them opportunity to fill it to its maximum capacity - just as it happened with Juve. Before they moved to their new stadium, they had an attendance of less than 30K, and now it's 40K on each match), it's in the center of the city...so it has all the attributes to become a new, legendary home of FIorentina. I hope the club will be the owners, 'cause it'll increase their revenue significantly, and that's how they'll become more competitive and start thinking about winning some titles! Otherwise, if the city owns it, and they're just tenants, the benefit will be minimum! Anyways, as I said at the beginning, I hope they'll finally start building it for real, and let's hope that the notorious Italian bureaucracy won't get in its way, like in Roma's case, who should've opened their new stadium exactly this season, but as we see, they still hadn't got even a green light to began the ground works. That's pathetic, and it's happening in many other Italian cities and clubs (I know for sure Napoli are facing similar problems. They also wanted to build their own, new and modern stadium, or as a 2nd option, buy out that shit-hole San Paolo and renovate it, remove the athletic track, and do many other things in order to make it representable, for a top club, such as Napoli is. Io credo che la viola sia una aquadra che ha bisogno di simboli e il franchi è l'insieme di tutti questi. Al franchi abbiamo sollevato il 1° scudetto nel 56, le coppe italia, è dove si è festeggiata la promozione in c2 e poi in A. What da fuck you're talking about numbnuts? IN this old, and ruined stadium, they have an average of 33K, so it'll only increase when they build this one! You're probably one of those fuckfaces who think that there's only EPL, and nothing else! Yes, currently Serie A has the oldest and most runined stadiums in the Top leagues, but the quality is there and it only becomes better with each new year! Plus, what do you think, what is the difference between SPanish league attendance and Seie A? only 4 000! For this season, 16/17 Serie has an average attendance of 23K, and La LIga 27K. Of course, neither of them could compare with England (35K), elt alone Germany, 41K. But it's coming there, and most important, for 3 seasons now, we're watching one of the best games in Europe, exactly in Italy, each round! And it's only going upwards! So,, with the new stadiums which many nteams are preparing or have started to build), the overall quality will be even better, and it's only a quesiton of time when Serie A will become the best league in the world, once again!

Shteno First of all i'm from germany and not from England. But let's be honest here how many home games where sold out this season ? All the games I saw the stands where mostly empty. And BTW La Liga is a different topic. It makes sense to build big stadiums because they sell out in european competition. Italian teams don't have that many games (except juve) so therefore I'm not sure what this is for.

You obviously are not aware that you don't know what you're talking about, right? Spanish sell the games in Europe (all 3, or 4, or 5 - if they reach the semis), but Italians doesn't? I've just told you the proper statistics, for example, Fiorentina has an average of 33K (Sevilla has 32K - there you go, two very similar teams, both by quality, traditions...), and the reason why you saw an empty stand is because their stadium has 48+capacity, and parts of it, are in quite bad shape - when it comes to a good view on the pitch. Plus, I've told you, you shouldn't compare it with your home land - everyone knows that German clubs have the best supporters, but also the lowest ticket prices. The point is that when this stadium is going to be build, you'll see that the attendance will increase, and from today's 33K, it'll go close to 40K. If you remember, even before Bayern moved to Allianz, and played on the old Olympic stadium (which had the capacity of close to 60K), had the average of just a bit over 50K. And now? 75K! What is it that it's not clear?! Of course, you need to have a strong team in order to have that as well, but Fiorentina has it (although it's not on the level of JUve, Napoli, or Roma), but you'll see, in less than 5 years, Serie A will become Number 1 league again! They've changed the football style so much this last 5 years, which is why for 3 seasons in a row, it's a league with most scored goals, this season, 38% of the players were under 24 years old, there are numerous investments coming, almost all teams are either starting to build new stadiums (this year: Roma, Cagliari, Atalanta, Empoli...) and very soon others will follow (Palermo, Lazio, Inter...), so...You know, I follow football a lot, all 4 top leagues, my favorites are LaLIga and Serie A, and know a lot about them (probabloy more than you), and I guess you're not that much into it, and probably still have that old idea thaht they play only defense in Italy, and hadn't folllow what's happening these last seasons. If you have, then you'll know what I'm telling you is the truth! P.S. By the way, I'm not Italian, and don't think that I'm saying this because I wanna defend 'my own' - No! I'm just stating facts. It'll become much better, as it's becoming with each season now, for 3, 4 years already. But when it comes to attendance, no one will come even close to Germany, that's a fact!

Shteno You have a point there. I really hope the attendance will increase and the stadiums will be sold out again. I saw a game of Lazio Rom and it was quite embarrassing to see 40k empty seats. I like Italian football and I would love to see juve winning the CL title. But they won't be the top league soon. The PL is financially to strong and sooner or later they will have international success. La liga is on another level and the Bundesliga will try to claim international titles again.
