I'm impressed. A video of 892s that have different pitches.

Very interesting system. My elementary school had (and still has) Edwards 892’s paired with 270-SPO’s! Not too long after I started 2nd grade, TrueAlerts were added on, as a 4010 likely replaced an older Edwards panel. There are also a few System Sensor and Wheelock NAs replacing some 892’s and a BG-12 replacing a 270-SPO. In the relocatables, there are a few 892’s and 270-SPO’s, a couple of 278B-1110’s, and some 757-5A-T’s.

I wonder why they didn’t just replace the entire system with truealerts, but this did happen to one of my districts elementary schools though

My middle school used to have 892s with an addon with UMMTs, a few years ago, the parts with the 892s were added on to the Siemens system that the UMMTs are on and the 892s and the other old Edwards devices were replaced with ZH-MC-Rs and new Siemens devices. the existing Siemens devices remained and surprisingly didn't get replaced because some of the smokes are looking a little beat up and the UMMTs have trouble syncing with the rest of the system

Damg those Wheelock MTs flash fast. My school has a mix of Gentex Commanders, Gentex SHGs, Wheelock MTs, and Spectralerts

this is very interesting! my middle school, built in the 70s, had these at 0:58 (i don't know the exact name), and they are VERY loud in person, at least the ones at my school were, thank you for posting these! gives me very "fond" memories :)

Very interesting, my elementary school had at least two of those edwards 892s (In music and band classrooms) but they were most likely disconnected for reasons. Still an amazing video, I love seeing these in action!

My middle and high schools where the only places I've seen these in-person. I just happened to get one from Ebay recently.

@@dewpoint8900 Lucky, my district is obsessed with keeping them disconnected in their buildings for some reason

This is my high schools fire alarm system in a nutshell, except I think they are all on code 3, I haven’t had a fire drill there yet. It’s a mixture of random spectrAlert classic and advance horns and a bunch of old horns in which some are simplex
@dewpoint89002 жыл бұрын
That's pretty cool! It's hard to find old Simplex devices where I lived. I know the town library had 2903s, but there's a chance those got replaced.
@boredreindeer56022 жыл бұрын
@@dewpoint8900 My school also has old wheelock horns with a weird cover on them, also my school does have a few 2903’s, one 2903 horn in the choir room, and a few 2903’s with strobes in the school annex

@@dewpoint8900 I was messing around with a voice changer I had and found an effect that actually turns an Edwards integrity into a Spectralert advance, the effect is called “Human Whisper”

@@dewpoint8900I forgot to mention that all the 2903’s and old horns are set to continuous, everything else is code 3. 2:57: this is what the old horns sound like

what could have been behind those big grills where the newer alarms are? some giant old bells?

Ever ask to pull it? My school always lets me pull theirs and reset the system.

Wonder why they just didn't put the new panel on temporal code 3?
@thomaswilkins81682 жыл бұрын
I actually think the mixed coding and devices makes it unique
@dewpoint89002 жыл бұрын
Could be any number of reasons, if I had to guess: 1. This panel was installed before code-3 was mandatory. Any devices you see doing code-3 probably do so internally. 2. The majority of devices is this system are Edwards 892s, which I rarely hear use any coding aside from continuous. Although they have separate wiring for the horn and strobe, it's possible installers were lazy and didn't bother separating these into separate NACs. 3. The system is grandfathered. Therefore, the 892s can stay in continuous. These devices are definitely not ADA or code complaint, so I have a reason to believe they are grandfathered.
