Fire Alarm Goes Off at King of Prussia Mall (Again!)

I am not sure what set off the alarm, but after the alarm was reset, I noticed a faint burning smell around the former Lord and Taylor court. There were also some police and firefighters in that area, so my guess is something happened in that area that set off the alarm.
Yesterday's events also solidified my understanding of the mall's fire alarm system, since last time I heard it go off, I am almost positive the Plaza and Court were not yet connected. It looks like when an alarm is tripped in the Plaza, the Plaza's alarms go off (older Cerberus Pyrotronics MXL panel, probably from 1996 when the South Plaza was added), but the strobes flash in other parts of the mall, which explains why the strobes were flashing throughout the Orange Garage and Expansion wing. There WAS a video of the alarms going off in the connector on KZbin many years ago, however I cannot find it anymore. It was the standard newer Siemens code-3 beep, I don't remember a message in that clip though. I'm not sure what would happen if an alarm is tripped in the Court or Expansion wing. I am almost positive that the Pavilion's system is completely separate since that used to be a department store, so that would have nothing to do with the main mall's system.

People, _this_ video is a perfect example of what the fire alarm system in the World Trade Center sounded like when activated: just a whoop tone, no message (unlike what I've seen some people claim). It's nice that this mall still has & still uses its MXL-V though: they're becoming rarer & rarer these days (I like the tones & messages on it too). Can you believe that nobody's taking the alarm seriously & just continuing to walk around as if nothing's happening, even though their very life could be at stake?

I will take your word on WTC as for this system it may have never had a message or maybe he or she just missed it. Two of the buildings my dad managed at his old job had old Simplex 2001 panels with voice evac and the system did the pre-4100u slow whoop twice then it would play the default message three times then just whoop until silenced.

Pretty much all NYC Class E Systems (Highrises) have no automatic messages because they have a "Fire Safety Director" person at all times to do live page if needed, in rare cases if they do then they will have to be approved by FDNY to have automatic messages

Depending on where they are, it may not be required by code yet. In my state, we just adopted the 2012 version of the NFPA code. So audible silence is still legal in my area.

Sometimes duct or smoke detectors sense stuff like smoke or carbon and send it into an alarm and will continue until the area is cleared of the smell or is fixed

@@Kirby7601 the original towers used the speaker strobes from wheelock but they were rebranded from pytronics and they were basically the wheelock e70 speaker strobes and the speaker strobes shown in this video
