Fire alarm leads to discovery of $80K in stolen tires, rims

There's two security measures you can take - 1: smart water . Spray onto rims and tyres . It's water proof . 2: letter punch . Punch on your registration plate number . If the cops were to find a stash like this , it would be easy to find the owners ..

@Tom All I know is what the guys where I buy my tires tell me. They read the code off the side of the tire and that tells them where I bought it. But I suppose if the guys who are selling tires are wrong about it being a serial number, then so be it.

Locking lug nuts are a waste of money lol you can buy a key set from snap on ,matco etc that will remove any of them just like a regular lug nut .

@Tom depends on the make it goes to. In my area as I said you will not get anything for them. Aluminium is holding at .23 cents a pound.... Its barely worth crushing cars for the market. Maybe 50 to a pound... tell me I'm wrong but you know I do this daily bud.... Don't waste your money locking lug nuts won't even slow a thief down. You can buy a key set from any tool company (snap on ,matco etc) How do you think techs in shops remove wheels when owner can't find key? They pull the key they need out of their tool box or borrow mine lol

@@iiFoogie man your world is about to be crushed. There is only a few different keys for all the wheel locks regardless of manufacturers. I have a kit that I've never not been able to remove ANY locking lugs. Also on older cars that require a real key to start again only a few different key cuts. You line up say 10 80's Honda Accords 1 key will probably start and unlock atleast 2 different cars. Don't believe me ask a lock smith. If your local shops talk to Snap on they can buy the lock kit and not have to dig through the whole car trying to find the key that's "always in the glove compartment" lol ask techs how many times they have heard that lol. I use to work in a shop heard it probably one or two times a week so I bought the kit like the other techs. Locking lugs are a joke so are steering wheel clubs.

I had nice twenty inch rims on an Altima that was flooded and was sitting for over five years at my friends car lot.. I used some $12 Chinese lug locks from eBay and they were never able to get them off. But the cars around it with no locks they stole sets from four different cars so locks do work and most thieves are too dumb to have universal keys in their pockets. Lol
