Test of a Simplex 4100 U system in a college library. When activated, the system drops out the locks on the emergency exit doors. I reset these seperatly once my partner reset the system.

Melinda Hall They are actually being called Mass Notification Systems now in fact in a new system in a new building or an upgrade you'll find that the speaker strobes have ALERT lettering instead of FIRE.

I can't remember which video I saw but it used the same siren as this fire alarm does but it was a creepy man voice that said walk down to your assigned reentry floor or main lobby and then it said respond immediately. This one isn't as creepy but the siren sounds the same.

There's a lot of governing bodies and lots of different people you have to answer to depending on the type of facility being serviced. Also not to mention the troubleshooting that goes into rooting out problems with any given system that's not up to code or working properly.

Isn't this evacuation voice message played in these speakers part of Simplex Fire Alarms of a female version or a late released version message? I've never heard this message on a Simplex system before.
@mikewolf53678 жыл бұрын
is it me or in the middle of the third "Attention" the pitch changes in her voice? Also, can any alert appliance work with the voice alert, like other Simplex' or Whelens, or does it require a special voice model? I know some can be set to use whatever the FACP is set for.
@safetech8 жыл бұрын
Any speaker UL listed to 110 volt range for fire alarm will suffice. Key work being SPEAKER not just any noise appliance. That is if you want to hear the voice message...
@mikewolf53678 жыл бұрын
Oh I see, so a Fire-Lite notification appliance can be used, but it has to be a speaker model and not a horn model? Cool.

Why does it take 15 seconds before the door can be opened? that's what the sign says so I'm guessing it's correct but those 15 seconds could mean life or death if the place was filled with smoke and fire
@safetech8 жыл бұрын
15 sec timers are pretty common on most fire doors as to prevent them from tripping if someone accidently knocks into it.

@vinnieversaci4527 жыл бұрын
why are there more speakers and not just all speaker strobes
@safetech7 жыл бұрын
Vinnie Versaci NFPA 72 dictates said amounts of strobes for so many ft of area covered. Depending on the environment/floorplan that requirement may not correlate with what's required for the ambient dB range, therefore more speakers.
@vinnieversaci4527 жыл бұрын
and how do you get a simplex voice evac on some setups just do the continuous slow whoop and no voice thats how my hospital is simplex speaker strobses no voice just continuous slow whoop

@safetech8 жыл бұрын
+Gary Beltz Yes on the slow whoop part. As for the voice, Simplex has a database somewhere in our programing software of various voices to choose from. The message wording I believe can be customized.

Walk to the nearest stairway."
