Those NS's can't be the original devices. There is no way because the K-6 school I went to had 2901-9838 and 9806 replaced with NS's that got replaced with P2R(L) System Sensor devices. Thankfully I finished at that school before the System Sensor devices went in, I just heard that from a friend.

fyi the heat has bigger holes and would have either lettering or numbers denoting the type of activation temp setting on apollo heats, whereas the smokes have smaller holes, when you said you thought a smoke was a heat I thought i'd let you know how you can tell the difference as apollo devices are very common in the UK where I am based

Those smokes are mostly garbage. When my middle school was built 1996?, they had a Thorn-Autocall system that used these smokes. They wound up replacing all of them because they were so faulty. Not sure if it was related, but almost every single time there was a thunderstorm with lightning that moved through, you could count on the fire alarm getting tripped. It took about 2 or 3 years to get that fixed.

Thorn modified those smokes a lot. The Apollo ones (OEM) are solid
