As one who has played each of these games... FE4: Despite being my favourite FE, I doubt I would have made it through without cheese and/or strategy guides. FE7: I mean, Lyn IS a pretty bad unit, despite being a decent character. FE11: I just didn’t do the Gaiden chapters, and never will. FE12: As someone who didn’t mind Kris, I found him as more of a bonus, and didn’t think he was necessary. FE13: Agreed. I do like Awakening and am glad it saved the series, but I am FAR from blind to its flaws (disjointed story, pair up being FE13’s Melee Fox) FE16: Gods, I cannot STAND Three Houses memes. They’ve become so repetitive and unfunny, as good as the game itself is.

I disagree... because there is no way to "properly experience" the game... it's not like you have to find every secret, get every recruitment and get all the best pairings on your first try. It's a game with a lot of replayability and tbh not having having to go through some obnoxious tutorial telling me what to do before I actually get to play the game was amazing in my opinion. I got the chance to explore the games mechanics for myself and also find my own strategies. The idea that you need to "properly experience" a game is just silly to me. Stressing yourself out over optimizing is unneccessary especially in a game like Geneology where fuckin Arden can solo the game... @@seven_8434 No, because I feel the same way. The only way to properly experience games is by playing it how one would play it. You shouldn't go off of guides and walkthroughs unless you are actually stuck in a certain spot (which isn't likely to happen in an fe game). However, Genealogy is very different when you consider that a lot of its gameplay is significantly different to other FE games. You can't double without a certain skill, the trade system is thrown out, bases are more modified but also downgraded compared to FE 9+ bases. Supports develop the same but have varying degrees of success. The list goes on. I played Genealogy for the story, even though I could look it up on a wiki and take the cheap route. Unfortunately, my run was a bust. I made it to the middle of chapter 2 and lost multiple times to the point that I couldn't take the strain and gave up. I haven't touched the game in 9 months.

@@ResurgentRaven you quit at chapter 2? That map isn't even that hard. What happened? You should 100% pick it back up. You can save and retry every turn so any mistakes are easily fixed and I personally found the first time I played that even when a situation seems unwinnable there's usually a way around it. If you think chapter 2 is hard then you should see chapter 4, that map was a major pain the first time I played it with a bunch of stressful events like a giant legion of pegasus knights, a mage with sleep and when you seize the first castle you find out that the second one is insanely far away and that there is another legion of pegasus knights heading your way.

@@seven_8434 Personally I just hate the layout of Chapter 2 (Don't bother telling me how to beat it, because I've tried every trick in the book and outside of it too). I'll break it down. 1. Hordes - enemies in the majority of Genealogy usually group together in hordes. Now in most FE games you can usually have a unit tank them, do some minor damage, then have some of the other units take them all out in 1-2 turns. This game says "screw you" because all the enemies (on this map) have 40+ hp and the only unit who can reliably tank them in most cases is Sigurd. And seeing as how in most games I don't like feeding exp to one unit and try my darndest to use the experience from each enemy wisely, I tried to get some other units like Quan, Lex, and Arden to soak up some damage. Unfortunately some brigands carry silver weapons that are pretty darned accurate despite me being in the wooded area, and they are significantly stronger than most of these minor brigands. Essentially most of my units can take two-three axe hits before they go down, and a lot of these brigands use hand axes too, making it even more difficult to counter them. What mainly happens is that they'll evade my tanks and go for the more squishy units (Alec, Azelle, Midir) and simply gang up on them until they die. 2. Rescue mission - Even if I could find a reliable tank, turtling isn't the forte for this map (or really any Genealogy map for that matter). You have two units in the south, Dew and Edain. Both of these are very frail, one of which is valuable in general and one of which is needed to recruit one of the enemies on this map (being Jamke). They have a horde of bandits trained on their position and getting them to safety is a real pain if you haven't already disposed of the bandits in the southeast yet. 3. The two recruitable enemies. Ayra and Jamke have possibly some of the most ridiculous recruitments ever, especially Ayra. You have to first lure her away from the castle, defeat the boss on the castle, and seize the castle, then recruit her after you've rescued Shannan. All of that takes about roughly 4 turns to do. In that time, my units kept getting pushed back due to how close Ayra was to them, and considering her skillset, I didn't want them to combat her. Jamke, on the other hand, would be easy if the person you have to recruit him with had good movement. You have to lure him outside the forest he's in, bait him out then talk to him with Edain. I could never recruit Jamke simply because baiting him out requires a tank. And none of my units could tank 3 killer bows. And every single time they could, I would realize next turn, that Edains movement range is still not enough to reach him. Other mechanics of this game simply compound the problem and I've probably restarted the game at least a dozen times to no avail. As for me picking it up again, I'm never going too. I've played every other FE game up to this point besides Thracia (I think you can understand why) and I don't see why this game has to be so difficult, or long for that matter.

@@ResurgentRaven idk what to tell you dude. You can break it down all you want but it's 100% possible. I've played every fire emblem game and Genealogy was one of the easiest imo. You get an incredibly OP lord, you can save every turn, and most of your other units become very strong if you can properly feed them exp, and you can also create an army of monsters in the second gen if you use pairings properly. There was a lot of trial and error but things worked themselves out a lot more than in games like Thracia or Radiant dawn where things were just agonizing and stressful and just not a good time a lot of the time. If you don't want to play it that's up to you but it's personally my favorite fire emblem game. It has my favorite skill system, the best story, the huge maps and the entire story playing itself out in battle makes the gameplay feel way more interactice and epic than most fire emblem games where the story and the gameplay feel very split, all around it's a very grand and rewarding experience. I get why people would find it annoying though, it's game that requires a lot of patience. Which game is your favorite?
