I think the ds games (not 3ds) did the game overs best. Cutting straight to a game over screen instead of zooming out to show the lord unit vanishing really just shows that there is... no more saving that war. If a unit dies, it's horrible, but ultimately, you can move on. If a lord unit dies... *That's it.*

Logic doesn't really work too well when it's Kris who causes a game over, but to be fair, Kris is worth at least eight Lords in combat, and I'm talking the good ones like Hector.
