Would this be like a case of if we don't do Lorenz's paralogue, he sides with the Empire. Almost like in Azure Moon with Dedue where if we don't do his paralogue, he stays dead. I mean, this is the exact chapter where the event occurs when Dedue reunites with everyone. So many unused data, it's kinda impressive how you managed to find it

Nah. Its unused. Although I wish Lorenz at some point betrayed the group, since he was hesitant with the plan at first. Of course, he would join back, but this could add some spice.

@@Lagw1020 I know it's unused. I'm asking it like if this is a "what if" scenario where we don't do Lorenz's paralogue, he betrays Claude instead of staying with him and the only way to get him back was to fight him as either Claude or Byleth. I just pictured it like that, y'know.

I really wished that in Verdant Wind Lorenz would not join you back automatically post timeskip, but instead you would have to fight him first in order to get him back, since he and Claude had so many differing opinions and ideals. Kind of like with what happened with Dimitri, but to a lesser extent. It would make sense story wise.

I actually think their ideals are fairly similar at their core. Both Lorenz and Claude will prioritize the well being of their people over their personal goals and ambitions. Lorenz defaults to fighting for the Empire because he doesn't want the war to destroy Gloucester.

I always thought about how each route could have been more different from each other, and one idea I had was instead of fighting Pallardo & his bandits in VW, you would fight Lorenz & Imperial sympathizers trying to get on Adrestia's good side by giving them Garreg Mach (they would've already taken out the bandits in this timeline). Obviously, Lorenz wouldn't die & would be re-recruited afterwards, but it would show how badly the Alliance is falling apart after the 5 year absence. The fact that might have been close to the original idea makes me both happy and disappointed for not going that far (to be fair, I share that sentiment over a LOT of decisions made for this game).

Because I swear, what good does the presence of this route do for the game? It takes ressources away from Verdant Wind and Crimson Flower and nobody actually likes to play it to begin with, because why should I even pick Black Eagles just to decide to lose 1/4 of its cast, including its Lord.

More likely I'm sure is the possibility of losing Lorenz on GD, possibly by not doing something before time skip or choosing a wrong option somewhere along the way.

@@davidacus956 there is actually a flag for character "death" that unrecruits them instead of what happens normally which leaves them recruited but unselectable. This would make them enemies on timeskip. This is true for linhardt and caspar on fort merceus in silver snow if their flags are set as unrecruited. It may be true for lorenz here too.

I know this, I just try Lorenz vs Claude in Crimson Flower Chapter 14 , but it's not work even Claude vs other golden deer students (Raphael, Ignatz, Lysithea, Marianne and Leonie)

You always have both Claude and Lorenz in Verdant Wind, this conversation happens if you don't have Lorenz recruited, which is normally an impossibility since he never leaves you.

@@ajch22 I know its only unused dialouge and there are examples where the character have the same dialogue towards one another whether they are your units or enemy units (Felix Vs Sylvain for example)

Here's an idea, what if the next difficulty has a gimmick where a random student (Excluding house leaders and such for obvious reasons) betrays you after the time skip and you can't recruit them back and you're force to slay them instead?
