Update: As of late last night I got an email from Qidi about an "optimized" chamber heater power supply board which will be available soon. Others have now also gotten word they will receive an updated module. It seems Qidi has actually revised the design, so as soon as it's in someone's hands we'll know more. They do still insist the current choke does not prevent a fire hazard and the only risk is component failure. I can't comment further on that, but I'm glad they are making a change beyond firmware.

Yep we got a similar email. I'm awaiting components to be able to test, but you have to be confident with mains wiring to be able to do the swap. I get for some it's easy but for others it's frustrating and complicated.

On the first one, tell him to make sure both his fans are actually on. A friend of mine was having issues like this and I told him to double check his fans were on, and it turns out they were clogged up with filament strings and weren't spinning at all. he had heat creep and no cooling from the nozzle fan.

About the Qidi issue; Yeah a recall and hardware update would be apt. I'd also be inclined to add a thermal switch besides a normal fuse to double down on safety. That way it would disengage power if heat became critical.

I had a similar issue as the guy from the SV0 bar of soap, thee thing was cooling, my cooling was terrible, and I did reduced the speed for outer walls.

18:33 inline thermal fuse is how vorons add an extra line of defence to an SSR failing for the heated bed. Some builds have 2 fuses for extra security. Starting to think this should be the norm for heaters like this as both SSRs and MOSFETs on control boards can fail to an always on state if you’re really unlucky. No firmware controls can turn off heating in that situation.

I could work around the heater issue, while they figure this bs out. But my plus4 us a nightmare and prints like absolute crap. My plus4 print quality is worse than anything i own. The prints are covered top to bottom with extremely bad ghosting, vfa's, banding, ringing and atrocious layer line quality. I am beyond pissed off with this situation. All i own is qidi printers and i might be done with them after this. I got the plus4 to get away from constantly having to tune my x max 3's after every single print, to get decent prints. My plus4 has not produced a single ok print. Ive been working on my plus4 for 2 weeks straight and cant work oit any problems at all. The amount of graphite i wipe off my bottom rail after every print is suspicious too. And no my bottom hotend bearing is not loose. Everyone keeps trying to tell me it that, its not. I am 2 seconds away from throwing off my deck, thats how pissed i am.

About copyright protection: sometimes it takes weird forms - for example in Russia some company bought exclusive rights for “articulated” models from Mcgybeer and de-facto form a monopoly on market (makers cannot get commercial license anymore)

That seems way too high of a temp on a choke/inductor. I'm actually shocked to see it above 150*C. I want to look that part up and find the manufacturer spec for power and temp. I got a feeling it won't be rated for the temp it currently is running at.

About the Qidi segment: I'd say recall is the right thing to do. Get the printers back and get the hardware fixed.

1st issue my 2 cents: it could also be a too warm bed. I had same-ish on my Prusa XL … 60°C on 1st layer and 50°C for the rest of the layers/print works superb. Side node, I’ve got enclosure on it which keeps heat more in.

QIDI should at least email all users in countries with 115v power a link to the software fix and let them know they will be supplied a hardware fix ASAP. This machine does not operate as advertised and they should take steps to provide a permanent solution, not a bandaid.

I always update firmware I don't do it immediately I might wait a day do some research 1st and see if people are having problems and if I don't find any in 24 hours I'm updating

I'm on the fence between the Plus 4 and the X1 Carbon. I will wait and see what Bambu comes out with in 2025 or Qidi fixes the Plus 4.

My prusa mk4 had a "clear" nextruder cover. It was never as clear as I would have liked......and it looks like shit now. So today I'll be printing the mk4s cover in purple and hopefully I can call the mk4s done.

Makes since having some sort of runaway thermal protection on anything that heats to high temps, they should even have some sort thermal protection on boards that can potentially reach high temps from current draw.

Last comment I was able to post was "You should name this printer Toasty lol" and then and right after that Nick T and 802 Garage were arguing in chat where you said you would handle misinformation. After you said that, all my comments on the live stream did not go through. My username is T...., so maybe someone tried reporting Nick T for misinformation but got me by mistake? This left a really bad taste in my mouth, man, so I am hoping you can help get to the bottom of it.

chinese server is little to no protection of copyrights??? i got my makerworld model (standard licence) stolen by a printables account and it's been 1 month and 6 reports by me and other users and ntg happened and that thief is still making points with my stolen model!!! useless prusa team regarding copyrights!!! what blaming bambu for????????????

If it helps for perspective, I had a model taken from Printables and uploaded to MakerWorld without attribution. A stupid little thing that helped firm up Bambu’s anti-vibration feet. Guess what? I put in a copyright claim on MakerWorld, demonstrating it’s a 1 to 1 copy of my creation, Bambu’s response…. “We don’t see the issue, please reply if you think we’re wrong”. Friends, I already PROVED that, so yeah, Prusa, Bambu, they don’t care about your copyright unless you’re a Maker with a large following.
