It's awesome Chris. and the pot is only £23 but then you have to buy the burner but even so its fantastic value when you consider all the other types of gas stove combinations. I have used the MSR since it was released and its very good but its way more expensive and its heavier too, same as the Reactor...i have sold them both since i discovered the Petrel 600, amazing on gas consumption too .

That took 1 minute 10 seconds and even in strong winds it brings a mug of water (300ml) to boil in more or less the same time as apposed to 10 plus minutes using most alcohol stove configurations which also promote more condensation if you are using your stove inside a tent. You can literally hold this system in one hand if that was ever nessasary however it's obviously much safer to use it on solid level ground. Plus these pots are only £23 which is amazingly affordable but then you will require a burner and my burner of choice is the Soto Windmaster with tri pot support instead of the 4 legged one that comes as standard . The Toaks 750ml mug lid is actually 10 grams lighter than the lid that comes with the Petrel 600 ml pot.

It is said that Soto does not recommend its stoves for HX systems because of the carbon monoxide poisoning problem. Is that true?

When i have used it inside my van its been close to the carbon monoxide detector and it hasnt set it off but i only use it for quick boils....thanks for the heads up , thats the first time i have heard that

It set the alarm off in my kitchen with the door partially open I had it on full wack, going to do some more testing as it’s the only stove pot combo that has done that.

@@ashab1 Its funny you should say that because every time i do boil tersts with alcohol stoves i set the carbon monoxide alarm off but its never happened with any gas burner and i thought it was because the gas burned cleaner

Ok so I used a few other gas stoves and pan pots combinations they all set one alarm off except the jetboil zip and my alcohol stoves (trangia and flat cat 25gram steel with bobcat windshield and 10% water as there leave loads of carbon otherwise) the fire maple petrel with the soto windmaster boiled in exactly the same time as the 1.3 litre evernew pan which is around 10 grams lighter, all surprising to me, I have two monoxide alarms one failed even though I clearly suffered mild poisoning. I use all these sets when out so don't favour any just noting my findings I also gave a Coleman 400 a blast on white gas that was fine too. So most people will have the door partially open so should not be an issue my kitchen door was open with no wind.
