Yea I just got mines not to long ago and it’s very chill I hold him a lot and very beautiful lizard and likes to hang out in my pocket for few hours n have had no problems

Mines chilling on my shoulder right now.. he's really tame. But so is my Tokay gecko.. I work with them alot . My skink is super intelligent and enjoys interaction with me. He'll eat from my hand. I have to disagree about them being flighty. Like I said mines super chill. And hangs out like a bearded dragon.. all about establishing trust and developing a "friendship" lizards are very malleable as far as getting them to work with you. And you shouldn't just feed them crickets. You should offer a variety in their diet such as dubia roaches as a main staple and occasional mealworms and superworms. I give mine a pinky mouse about once a month for a treat. As far as the prey item fitting between their eyes it is not the same with a skank as it is with geckos and such he will use his claws and twist his head to break it apart kind of like a turtle it is fun to watch him eat. I also offer some low branches as I find out they are semi arboreal and do enjoy to climb a little but overall I am not criticizing your video you had good information. I've been keeping this species for over 20 years, before they were popular, so I had experience with them and you can trust my information I have given you. Happy herping my friend

They’ll eat anything a blue tongue skink will eat as well, so u can definitely up the diversity in their diet with occasional fruit, repashy products, wet dog food, scrambled egg, etc.

Surprisingly my wild caught one is the friendliest and catch it out basking a lot, my other two are captive bred and are nasty and mean

What do you think about using a Arcadia 6% uvb forest bulb long light bulb for uvb and light and using a 50 watt arcadia deep heat emitter in a 40 gallon tank I’m not sure

I live in Illinois so weathers spotty so I’m not sure if the emitter and the under tank heater would be too much as of rn I only have a 100 watt basking bulb

Uvb isn’t a big deal with these guys, nor is how warm the basking spot is. I just use a 60watt incandescent bulb. Basking spot is about 85-90. And no heat during the night. They’re real tough

With plants unfortunately there’s only a couple plants that can handle all the burrowing lol.

Egg crate around main root structure and they will be completely fine. Fire skins need 5+ inches to burrow anyway.
