Lots of instructors are no longer teaching pinning the trigger to the rear. The way it's being taught, now, is to reset the trigger during recoil and having a ready trigger as fast as possible.

Good basics! Bad form! Shooting with right hand, aiming with Left Eye? Unless there's something wrong with your strong side eye I think this is a bad habit. If she can shoot the rifle aiming with her right she should be perfectly able to adjust to shooting the pistol aiming with her right eye (or both eyes open).

The first trips to the range is not the time to completely tear people down. It is about safety, followed by having fun, followed by passing on as much knowledge as you can without it becoming tedious and taking away from the second point. If you do the first two, you will have all the opportunities you want for the third. But you probably knew that already... :)

Yeah, I was quite impressed with her trigger discipline. I have taken multiple first time shooters to the range and even after extensive safety instructions beforehand. Most don't really pay attention to that at the beginning until you point that out repeatedly.

@@KitBadger I certainly didn't do any better my first few times to the range. Hell, I can't handle a DA trigger that well even today XD (My excuse is, I always preferred rifles over handguns anyway :X) But then again, she did have an excellent teacher. I've really enjoyed this series and even picked up a few things either for myself or for the next time I'll be taking a first time shooter to the range. So thanks again for the great videos! :) One question though, why did you decide to start with the handgun over the rifle? When taking first time shooters to the range I always try to start with the latter. I find the additional point of contact with the body, the longer sight radius and the increased intuitive awareness of where the muzzle is pointing (compared to a handgun which can very easily -accidentally- negligently be waved around) much more conducive to training novice shooters. Was it because she had some, albeit it limited, prior experience with the handgun or was there another reason?

If you've watched the series, you'd understand why. :) That is always easy to change down the road, but the benefit of new shooters learning that way is tremendous.
