Mine is a Norinco from 92 if I read the serial right, looks like it had never been fired but once. It wouldn't feed, once I carefully fixed that it's like s new rifle. The face of the chamber was never finished to allow smooth, reliable feeding. Someone else gave up, but I have a dremel and a steady hand. Honestly, I had to polish the feed ramp on a brand new Smith & Wesson that would hang up occasionally I think Norinco rushed mine out the door pre-ban in the 90's. At least they left me enough steel to carve out a working rifle, it's beautiful. Thanks for the video, I'm still getting familiar with it.

After soaking the bolt in Kroil, I usually place the bolt on a nylon bench block and center the retaining pin over one of the holes in the bench block and give it a good tap with a punch and hammer. The retaining pin should pop out.

The person in the video is able to disassemble the SKS with ease and without using tools much, but for me I have to use tools to even move the take down lever. I can’t get firing pin retainer out, any suggestions?
@Frankie-Bleddyn Жыл бұрын
I have a question from Brownells' I own a SKS, standard Russian 10 round capacity, fires great, fairly accurate...I like it. But I quite accidently discovered when I went to remove it from the gun safe, I sort of bobbled it a bit and it dropped about 3 inches and the rifle tapped the ground on the way out and it self chambered a round and was ready to shoot. Handling the rifle in a normal fashion has never caused a round to just load by itself. But eventually I discovered that in a stress situation where I want the rifle ready to fire before I even bring it up to sight, is I simply grab it from the case, and as soon as clear the case, I quickly tap the butt of the rifle on the floor and it loads and I bring it up and I take it off safety and sight. I am wondering if you can duplicate this with your on SKS stock and confirm if this is just a happenstance thing or my rifle is possible a problem and I should take it to a gunsmith.

my gas tube piston on my sks doesnt come out is that normal? i have a yugo sks just wondering what may be the problem or is that how yugos are setup?
@brownells9 жыл бұрын
The most likely cause is carbon fouling and buildup, which will cause the piston to stay locked in the tube. A good carbon cleaner will help break down the fouling and allow the piston to be removed.
