Nobody ever tries these rigs with 20 round AR mags. And considering the number of people who were using AR pistols, I think somebody should do that. Or make a chest rig specifically for 20 round mags

My question is how durable is the elastic? Where I live in the southwest elastic tends to dry out, not rebound and become useless. Do you recommend using some type of oil to keep it moisturized?

Ehh I would say it’s on par with any other elastic I was shredding it pretty good with the use of AK mags

Just bought one based on reviews. Seems the most sleekest and easiest to throw on in a shtf situation. How well have mag pouches held up? Do you think the kydex inserts are needed?

They have held up alright but ultimately I do feel like it might be a little better with kydex inserts

Just wear it over your plate carrier so you get the best of both worlds. I use it for hunting

You could try having the ak mag upside down to avoid the rear locking tab like polanartactical does. Only problem I've had with doing that is bending the base plate of one of my mags cuz it snagged.

So...... it's not really a "chest rig" until you buy a whole list of other items first. Straps , buckles etc. That's going to be a big NOPE from me.

Totally valid compliant I thought the same thing, in total the price mirrors other complete chest rigs and they do that to let you basically pick and choose what style of strap you want
