The original Red Orchestra game had a mechanic like Jonathan speaks about around 3:12. With any weapon if you put yourself in a proper position you could reduce your recoil and stabilize your aim by resting your weapon on something. And it was anything. Side of a bunker, fence, table, window sill, pile of rubble. It was a cool mechanic. Also he speaks to having to rest a LMG on something to reload it. In the original Day of Defeat and Day of Defeat: Source, you have to deploy an MG42 or M1919 .30 Cal in order to reload it. Which is quite realistic.
