We bought a forged steel bench vise from Fireball Tool, and here are our thoughts on it! 😊
We're not sponsored by Fireball Tool, but they do have cool stuff, so here's a link where you can check out their site:

And here's a link to them trying to destroy this vise:

Good idea with the disc.

I like the disc rotor mount idea, however it appears that the diameter of the rotor is larger than the inner depth of the jaws preventing tall items from being placed vertically inside the vise.

It would prevent that, yes, but I can't think of the last time I had to work with such tall items. 😉

Lot like three Capri vises also made in Taiwan

It resembles a Capri vise too.

I could be mistaken, but I suspect all the "forged steel" vises that look like this one (the Ridgid, Yost, Capri Tools, and Fireball) are made by the same factory in Taiwan and then re-branded by whoever distributes them. That or they are all just copying eachother's design.

@@SculptyWorks I think you are right. The Taiwanese products that I have purchased are high quality. I recently purchased a Taiwanese made part for my Toyota Tacoma pickup. That part matched/exceeded the original Toyota part.

I'm at the 46sec mark in the video and I'm shutting it off. As soon as I seen that metal strap being used to lockdown the swivel mechanism, I knew this isn't the vise for me! Why would Fireball Tools even put their name on this product?!? They already demonstrated in one of their own videos how that strap is a poorly designed weak part in the vise and it should be avoided at all costs! Why in they hell would they put their name on this product that's gonna fail as soon as any hammering is done on it at all?!? 🤦🏻‍♂️

Maybe I'm too gentle with mine, but it's been holding up perfectly fine since I got it. This vise is a model sold by at least two other tool brands, so it's not being made exclusively for Fireball. Maybe when choosing which vise to put their name on, Fireball felt this one was the best option, despite the 'metal strap'.

How does the strap get bent when hammering anyways? Is the it supporting the weight of the vise in the middle or something? I heard two separate lugs is better because it can't bend like the strap but I'm not sure why the strap bends to begin with.

By the looks of it the Ridgid and this one are the same thing. I could be wrong, though; but might be worth double-checking before paying premium for name brand. 😉

@@SculptyWorks No, all of the ones that look like this are knockoffs based on the peddinghaus(now owned by rigid) which are still made by peddinghaus in Germany. The yost, this one, and any other brands that have this same design are based off of the Peddinghaus matador vises.
