Because mate Britain has gone to the dogs since these Gerry Anderson shows were made in the 60's when, although by no means perfect I think more people had more manners and a better moral compass than these days, not to mention that the country was not full of too many foreigners..it makes my heart weep to think that people fought in two world wars and the bag of crap we have in Britain in 2020. Right back to being five is absolutely right! I'm right back sitting in front of our old Sylvania black and white TV in my little rocking chair, wearing my Lone Ranger cowboy hat and eating a bowel of Cheerios with a Mickey Mouse spoon. Glad this show is remembered. It was the start of a fascination with space and astronomy that lasts to this day.

This series was made in 1962 but here in the USA I THINK we got it a little later. In 1963, I was only 4 years old yet I remember this show like it was yesterday. Even today @ 59 years old I get a warm feeling inside when I watch the intro, the theme song or any of the episodes. ALL the Supermarionation series were wonderful. The attention to detail means that there was a HUMAN touch behind every little detail. Sorry but CGI simply CAN'T compare because the computer has NO soul. Watching these TV shows takes me back to my happy place!

'And though I'm not a spaceman, famous and reknown,I'm just a guy that's down to earth, with both feet on the ground,it's all imagination,I'll never reach the stars,my heart is still a fireball,a fireball, every time I look into your starry eyes!

Yeah I'm 60yrs old and remembered watching this program through the 60's and early 70's corny as I got older but looking at couple show on KZbin you have to get credit to the creators of their time of how they brought imagination to the minds of kids of that era.👍

Haha...me and my sis did that too! I was lucky enough to work with Don on Play School in early 80s. He's a top guy.
I use to love THIS series. It came on India's only television channel Doordarshan national network in 1987 / 88. Thanks Mandar

When I was in first grade, I had a FIREBALL XL5 lunch box. I was top dog. All the boys and some girls in my class thought that was soooo cool. This was in 1965.

Almost 59 myself. Loved this show. I think there was an earlier Anderson show called "Supercar" -- I have tape recordings of me talking about it, but I have no real recollection of it. XL-5 tho...definitely good memories of this one.

The kid who lived next to me in Louisville, KY in 1964 had a toy version of of XL-5, and boy, I had a serious case of envy! Just like a lot of toys of that era, it could do practically everything the TV version did!
