Because mate Britain has gone to the dogs since these Gerry Anderson shows were made in the 60's when, although by no means perfect I think more people had more manners and a better moral compass than these days, not to mention that the country was not full of too many foreigners..it makes my heart weep to think that people fought in two world wars and the bag of crap we have in Britain in 2020. I am 56, I grew up in the 60's and 70's and Britain was so much better then I think. We didn't know how good it was.

What fabulous childrens programmes Gerry and Sylvia Anderson made , absolutely magical for those of us born late 50's then 60' and 70's. I still to this day get excited watchin' the opening scenes to 'Fireball' , 'Stingray' and of course 'Thunderbirds'. Takes me back to a time when as a kid i was really happy and these classic childrens programmes were part of that.

The real thing I love about youtube is you can type in a fav progs of the past, no matter how far back, for example, the 60's and hey presto, there it is! Kids now take this tech for granted but guys like me in their 50's can now go back down memory lane and bring back to life those tv memories no matter how vague, so long as you got enough info in the title it will deliver...like magic!

Got tears in my eyes now, hearing the ending song. I remember this show so well as a kid and I enjoyed the Andersens; flights of sci-fi fancy very much. Irwin Allen had the American scene covered, and Sylvia and Gerry Andersen had the Euro market firmly in their grasp. Between the two of them I'd say the world of fantasy was in very good hands at the time!

Thank goodness that I grew up within broadcast range of CTV (Canadian Television) or else I would have missed out on all the Supermarionation and Barry Gray's wonderful themes and orchestrations. For a while there was a severely edited (butchered) version of Thunderbirds playing on US television, with Barry Gray's glorious music replaced by generic electric guitars. Shudder. Didn't last.

The only time they screwed the country is when they brought in multinationals because they weren't happy to lead the country among themselves. From then on most multinationals were on the dole because "no spikka da inglisha" meant no jobs. And the country ended up bringing more in and paying for their welfare, while their kids missed everything, education.

Sure it may be just a model, but they put so much work into it with sound effects, that its just an awesome opening sequence. I loved this as a kid and could still watch this over and over. Thanks Mandar for posting

I remember the series which I used to watch with my dad [who is sadly no longer with us], although I do not remember individual episodes. This would have been c1962/3 when I was about 4, I also remember the earlier series Supercar and the later series Stingray, the next was Thunderbirds, a classic known even to those too young to remember the 1960s due to repeats and remakes.

In March, it will be the 50th anniversary of the 9.2 1964 Great Alaskan Earthquake. With very limited TV programming, this program was a favorite. It had just started when the quake started, so it is a poignant memory as everyone my age goes "I was watching Fireball XL5 when the quake started!" Thanks for putting this up.

Right back to being five is absolutely right! I'm right back sitting in front of our old Sylvania black and white TV in my little rocking chair, wearing my Lone Ranger cowboy hat and eating a bowel of Cheerios with a Mickey Mouse spoon. Glad this show is remembered. It was the start of a fascination with space and astronomy that lasts to this day.

This series was made in 1962 but here in the USA I THINK we got it a little later. In 1963, I was only 4 years old yet I remember this show like it was yesterday. Even today @ 59 years old I get a warm feeling inside when I watch the intro, the theme song or any of the episodes. ALL the Supermarionation series were wonderful. The attention to detail means that there was a HUMAN touch behind every little detail. Sorry but CGI simply CAN'T compare because the computer has NO soul. Watching these TV shows takes me back to my happy place!

Yeah I'm 60yrs old and remembered watching this program through the 60's and early 70's corny as I got older but looking at couple show on KZbin you have to get credit to the creators of their time of how they brought imagination to the minds of kids of that era.👍
