Firebird Ep 24 Mounting the subframe and test fitting the LS1!

Today I install the recently repaired front subframe for mock-up purposes, and show an easy way to align the subframe to the chassis. Then I drop the LS1/T56 temporarily into the engine bay to check for alignment with the replacement engine cradle. Enjoy!

You gonna adapt the gen 4 cradle? I used some mount adapters and it went in easy. Never seen anyone use the stock cradle. IMO its a ton of work for little to no real gain.... why do all that if I may ask...

That's the plan. There's quite a few gains beyond suspension that I get from using the Z28 cradle - air conditioning compressor mounting, rack & pinion location for the cradle itself, plus I plan on using the Z28 brakes and could not find a suitable way to adapt them to the original spindles. The long a short of it is that I could spend upwards of 10K updating stock pieces, or do a little (relatively!) fab work and use the parts I already have and get some really good gains in the process.
