When I was about 5 years old, maybe younger, my aunt and I used to watch Fantasia and Fantasia 2000 together and I remember crying at this part every single time. It was my absolute favourite movie as a child and it always will be till the day I die.

Thanks! I am very proud of the work I contributed to that film. I'm sure I speak for my fellow artists on the crew when I say thank you for the kind words and appreciation of Fantasia 2000! It was hard work but the end result is so beautiful that the long nights at the drawing board paid off.

Amazing work. It's just sad that movies like this aren't made anymore. It's just all CGI because it cheaper and faster.

I'm playing this for marching band this coming year and I really could not be more excited. We are going to sound amazing. Alongside this song, we're also gonna be playing Swan lake. I'm going to cry of how beautiful those two pieces sound like and how amazing the Marching season is gonna be.

Dear Gaia, thank you for giving us the gift of nature in all its splendor, alas taken for granted. One day you will stop being underappreciated and your wonders destroyed for shallow reasons. We are a single species that isn't in tune with nature, like a virus.. Let's just hope the virus mutates into a less destructive one soon enough :)

@Danval1023 Its a movie called Fantasia 2000 by Disney. This was the long awaited sequel to it's original Fantasia made many years ago. This is just a 3 minute part of one of the segments of the movie. The movie has 8 or 9 of animated shorts put to music. There are other great classic compositions in the movie like The Pines of Rome, Rhapsody in Blue, Beethoven's 5th Symphony and more. They include The Sorcerer's Apprentice which was in the original Fantasia. Great great moive, just loved it.

I agree make another Fantasia, I love the concept of animation to classical music, they did an excellent job in both the 1940's Fantasia, and the more recent one but I can think of many deserving songs that could use a little bit of "Magic" to make them more appreciated.

This opening scene somehow reminds me of that scene in Bambi where the stag (the father) discovers Bambi after his mother had been shot, in the middle of the snow laden woods

Well the story talled here is not what the firebird is (this passage is triumphant love) but the music is, amha, well played according to the image. (even if i prefer the russian ballet i have on dvd). to pulchrun : if you find this one "kirei", try other interpretations of the firebird, you'll find some of them "totemo subarashii" ^_^.

I haven't clicked either button ... I like the idea and most of the execution, but for one thing this is only the last 3 minutes (without any note to that effect) when the full 9 minute thing is just a sidebar click away, and I'm also rather bugged by how a studio such as Disney, making a flagship animation like this, couldn't managed to synch the stag's hooves to the movement of the ground but instead settled for him looking like he's moonwalking.

At least with my family (we're Celtic pagan), she symbolized the Goddess of Spring, with the stag as the God (the main male deity is often depicted as a stag). So for me when I was a kid, it was sort of a "circle of life" sort of symbolism.
