I literally came here specifically to see the Bride. All I've ever seen is Constance, so that was cool and eerie.

LifeIsMyMusical123 Same! I remember this one the most from when I was a kid. I never encountered the one before this one with the glowing red eyes. She was before my time I guess.

Same! I remember this version of the bride from my early childhood, and while I like how they've updated the new one to make it more obvious that she was murdering her husbands, I wish they still had the glowing heart in sync with the eerie beating that echoes throughout that section. It freaked me out back then, and that beating still freaks me out today.
@ryemcgowen53026 жыл бұрын
Same here. However I love Constance and her story. I love her dialogue as well. I think she'd be cooler if they kept all that is great about Constance, and replaced her animatronic with something similar to this one, with the lost, beautiful doll-ish face with her beating heart and candle (in the other hand her hatchet can appear and disapear )

that sign at 7:08 says "Dead End! prepare to exit to the living world" is one of my most missed things from the haunted mansion. mostly forgotten about since the day it was removed for some mysterious reason but it's so cool to see it in old haunted mansion videos. thank you

Aw man. I'm genuinely bummed I never saw this version. the entire attic scene looks incredible. I love that this video can at least somewhat capture it.

I loved seeing the beating heart bride again. I can't believe how rude some of the folks were in the stretching gallery.
@cassandraespinosa22236 жыл бұрын
OMFG what SO IRKS THE HELL OUT OF ME is when rude inconsiderate MORONS chat away in the stretching room/elevator when the Ghost Host ominously speaks. This happened 9 years ago during my very last visit to Haunted Mansion (when I’d visited the park on my birthday). There were these young college kids gabbing loudly about their fave scenes on the HM ride that I COULD BARELY hear the Ghost Host speak. I SERIOUSLY wanted to screech at them to all JUST SHUT UP!!!!🤬😡

I was there last week but I totally forgot about the beating heart! Why did they take that out? I mean, I like the updates, but the creepy heartbeat is what made the attic scene iconic :(
@andreapatane42049 жыл бұрын
+Sebizzar That sound is spooky like Edgar Allan Poe's The Telltale Heart. The original bride had a name which was Abigail Patecleaver-Gracey. Constance Hatchaway-Hightower replaced her in 2005 when Disneyland celebrated its 50th Anniversary. Abigail's heartbeat has been reused in the attic if you buy a copy of The Haunted Mansion CD.
@NostalgiCrazy9 жыл бұрын
Andrea Patane Yeah I have the CD :) I guess it'll be just a memory now, but I'm hopeful that they'll bring it back eventually.

I kind of like how different the WDW and DL Beating Heart Brides of the late '90's and early '00's were. The WDW one looked like she ruled the attic, and the DL one looked like the attic ruled her. I think the differences between the attics were interesting because they showed two dramatically contrasting versions of the bride, especially because ever since the Haunted Mansion first opened it was up to riders to decide whether the bride was forlorn or malicious. Since DL and WDW are on opposite sides of the US those who rode one were unlikely to ride the other, meaning that one audience saw the bride as melancholy and the other as somewhat menacing. I just always thought that was pretty interesting, given that the conflicting attics served to make the bride as mysterious as ever.

They actually updated the Bride with the beating heart. It makes me sad. She was my favorite in this video. I don't like how they changed her.
@FireByNight10 жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree. Nor do I like the changes they made to the original pirates. Now when this generation goes and rides it, they will think the ride about jack sparrow movies and not what Disney's original vision was.
@jupiter909910 жыл бұрын
Agreed. The OLD old attic had everything I'd expect to see in the attic of a haunted mansion. When I think of a haunted mansion's attic, I don't think of some random chick reciting wedding lines while making a hatchet appear in her hands.
@SirBlackReeds8 жыл бұрын
But what if that black widow murderer ends up the villain in the new Haunted Mansion movie?
@justinemcgraw66347 жыл бұрын
It's such bullshit. What enamours so many people about the bride, other than her tragic beauty, is the mystery surrounding her. Who is she? How did she die? Why is she holding a candle? Why is her heart visible? And Constance shits on all of that. Some questions just aren't supposed to be answered! But nope, here's Constance out here all "I killed 5 people and here are their heads! See? Here's the axe I used for it! I'm soooooo bad LOL".
@SirBlackReeds8 жыл бұрын
Fun fact: the trees were meant to actually reach out to guests, but the tech wouldn't allow that to work back when Haunted Mansion first opened.

Sixtieth comment. The Haunted Mansion, unlike Pirates, is virtually the same attraction it was the day it opened. All the things outside the holiday overlay that were changed were small things that didn't impact much, save the attic, which I think was the only major change. Where Pirates changed many scenes several times over the decades, HM has only significantly redone the attic, what with Constance being present in it, being an actual character who is emphasized, and the removal of the jump scares which are now only used for the holidays. I do think there's a good reason the bride is in the thumbnail. I personally like this version of the attic scene most, as the pianist playing the Bridal March wasn't originally part of the sequence, and was added in '95, along with this iteration of the bride, who is also my favorite. With the pop ups saying "I do" here, the scene seems to take heavy inspiration from Phantom Manor with the bride being portrayed as sympathetic rather than villainous like Constance, or mysterious like the previous ones. Also, a large purely auditory detail that many don't mention is the near constant presence of the Ghost Host throughout the entire "Creepy" part of the attraction. He doesn't leave until we enter the more comedic and jovial latter half of the ride, "I'll see you all a little later." This is mostly the same, but the lines about the ghosts having trouble communicating with the guests and the remedy for that have only been in use for twelve years, 1995 to 2007. I personally think this made the ride seem more cohesive then the periods prior and subsequent, much like Melanie in Phantom Manor serves that purpose. There are several auditory versions of this, but this is the only full video of this iteration of HM. I'd fav it were there a fav function. Absolute best.

I don't remember seeing Abigail in the attic after the Hatbox Ghost disappeared, because I was too young to into The Haunted Mansion that day when Disneyland celebrated its 40th Anniversary in 1994. My parents thought that I was way too scared to go in compared to the sound effects from Grimsly Manor made by Department 56.

***** Is that right?
@andreapatane42048 жыл бұрын
***** Exactly right. Every year in September before my parents' anniversary, Disneyland closes down for decorating. The Haunted Mansion is 1 of the attractions that closes down annually in September, because it's being decorated for Halloween and Christmas from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas. Please research it when you get a chance to do that. Here's the URL: www.wikipedia.org/hauntedmansionholiday.

I wish the adults would not speak up and interfere with the experience of 1st time children by preempting the hosts voice. Too many people chiming in like it’s old news because they’re seasoned park goers. When went for the 1st at 10 yrs old in 1980, it was a truly awesome experience largely because the ride played out as engineered . - Gobsmacked!

OMG now that I look closely at Constance or in this case Emily Disney has changed a k=lot in 17 years with their animatronic magic. I'm not saying that she looks bad, I'm saying that if I never went on this ride in 2001, and went today. I wouldn't have a clue that this would be a Disney ride. But I am very glad and happy with our lovely Constance Hatchaway! And Im going to Disney in June. Yay!!

@disneyfan81783 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure, but I have this theory. I think Disney is trying to let the effects speak for themselves, because that's what they do at Phantom Manor in Disneyland Paris, due to having to deal with so many languages in Europe. That's just my take on the matter, but Disney's real reason may be totally different.
