The typical Du Ka (kick drum, snare drum) half time type beat is what sells. So what's boring to play for a muso, usually sounds spacey and fat. I'm not saying I agree with "the popular" formulas to writing "big" songs. But i wouldn't be surprised they would want to select a track for huge music industry giants to want to be part of. The end of this video hurt me. Lol. Fired!

Aahh! But we still love the sound of tape, right?!? I once worked on a project on a 3348 (Sony digital tape), and were doing some gtr leads on different parts of the song, we get to finish them just to the point where the artist is satisfied and asks me to overdub him on certain part where one of those guitar leads was, I forgot to disarm the track and arm the next and recorded over one of the leads!! Oopps!! By then Pro tools was a standard in the studio so a "flew" one of the leads into pro tools and then synced it to the tape and "pasted" it in the place I had recorded over, on a different track of course, and "saved the day". Know everybody records in DAWs and those "nightmares" are in the past!!

If you’re a recording engineer, you’d better keep track of where you’re placing your recordings. If you don’t and you end up recording over a magical recording that will probably never be captured again, you’re gone. In today’s digital world with modern computerized recording equipment, it should be easy to record multiple takes without recording over something else. What a bonehead maneuver. I feel for the guy but this is something that could have been easily avoided.
@stevenbazan96813 жыл бұрын

I hope the guy who fired the engineer ends up on the street one day, homeless and hungry. Can only happen in America. Why stop there? Why didn't he make him sell his house to pay reparations for the divine take that got recorded over by mistake or call up some goons to beat him into a pulp? Huh? I don't care how many gestures he made while recording and how hyped up and excited he was. ANYONE could have made that mistake because we're all human. I cannot believe the cruelty of that guy. To leave a man without work because of that? No wonder they're all drunk on power and self importance over there.

nice story but horrible ending, someone should have stepped in and say something, there is no amount of "virtuoso" that is worth a man's job, and if the only way to replicate a solo is to wail around and hoping it sounds good the next take then perhaps the whole recording session was a mistake, i would expect a musician to come prepared with their sections already learned and practiced
