Just took mine today and passed it. It was kind of difficult, and I bet some of the guys there would have thought I was going to fail. I’m not the most muscular guy and I’m 5,4 feet and 135 pounds. That’s kind of small. But I didn’t give up, always remember why you do what you do, never give up, you can do it. Good luck to those taking it:)

I’m in the same boat, 5’7 and 135-138 usually. Got any tips for us lighter guys?

@@GhostyGhost7007 I think having good cardiovascular condition really helps. Since we are small we need to use more energy than other bigger individuals, so having good endurance will help. Running, rowing should help. Also trying to do lift weight can help, specially for the legs, the stairs get your legs tired but just take it easy and control your breathing. It’s exhausting but not impossible, you got this 👍🏽 never give up

The longest 3 minutes of my life. The mental stress is serious here. It makes you want to quit and try the next time. All these thoughts were running through my head. But your muscles are stronger than your thoughts so keep moving.

Just passed mine today I know exactly what you mean 😂. Soon as I got off the stair master I wanted to turn to the guy and say “I’m done”. But I thought about how my dad would call me a “pussy” so I tricked all the way through finished in 9:02.

@@paranoidcricket7093 . If I remember correctly, they count you down the last 5 seconds of the stairmill portion. If I'm wrong, I can 100% say that they tell you when the time is up by allowing you to hold on to the rail to step off. The stairmill shuts off as well. You won't be confused.

First time I did it I got DQ’d because I lost balance on the stairs with only 40-seconds to go. I’m 6’ 2” and 230 lbs and I never had been on a stair master before. Only had a week to get ready for the next attempt and wore my 50lb vest every time I was on the stair master at the gym in preparation for the following week. My next attempt was a success. Completed the CPAT in 8 minutes and 54 seconds. I’m amazed at how some men and women can complete it in 8 minutes or less!

I heard it's the stairs that kill people and wind them before the relatively simple CPAT. Is that true? Man I'm gonna have to get a membership just for the stair master 😂

Where Im doing mine they would have disqualified you for letting the ladder slam at the top and you wouldve gotten a warning for throwing the sledge hammer. Nice job though, haulin ass with the dummy at first!

Also with the last event. If you miss or don’t complete a rep you have to make up for it with an extra one and if you miss it twice it’s a fail.

Couple things. Foot was outta the hose box, ladder control was not maintained and safety system caught it, maul was tossed. All violations. Dummy drag advice - Face direction of travel, 1 hand drag and go…way less taxing that backwards baby step shuffle. Almost 38 and just finished my 2nd ever with 1:45 to spare. Fitness matters.

So im about to take the CPAT. Ive been working out for 2 years now and im 5’10 175 lbs. im pretty confident in this test but the only question i have is about the sledgehammer. I heard you have to hit 50 times. Is it not?

Its a 50 pound vest and then two 12.5 pound shoulder strap weights, for a total of 75 pounds. For the rate of the stair sets I think it's 60 steps per minute

Acouple things he could’ve done to conserve his energy. “All core/waist, No homeruns” w/ sledge hammer. Take a squat position on ceiling breach. Let your legs do the work rather than arm. Then angle/shift the pole and let your body do the pulling.
