I mean they can’t just pull something out of their ahh like it takes years for this stuff. At the time the shelters only could have survived 500 degrees. The fire burned 2000. They had no chance, unless they ran as hard as they could before the wind changed.

As someone who is a fire fighter for wildland fire fighting that’s simply just unrealistic you already care about 60 pounds plus if you carry a saw that’s another 20 pounds there’s no way in hell you’re gonna be able to add extra gear on top of that it’s physically impossible

There are plenty of cases where the fire shelters save lives....but they also showed us video in training of what happens when the shelters fail...they basicly just come apart at about 500 degrees on the out side...this happens so fast its like they almost explode...not like your going to be still breathing by the time that happens.

This was the most heartbreaking video I have ever seen in my life. Why they got out of the safe zone, a previous burned out side of the mountain, no one will ever understand. Their co-workers heard they were in a safe zone, but the look of shock when they began to hear chainsaws over the radio knew the guys had moved from the safe zone. No one will ever know why. The plane twice dumped flame retardant but couldn’t tell where they were.

I absolutely agree -- if people build (with highly flammable materials (try concrete, for a start, and partially underground) in highly flammable places, they should accept that they may have to rebuild. That's just the dictate of nature - we can't change it. If 19 brave, generous young people lost their lives trying to protect my damned house, I'd never be able to live with myself again. It's ridiculous.

They can make better shelters. They have heat resistant suits that withstand more than those shelters so come on people. These guys need and deserve better.

@@marymagdalinenavarro960 I mean these elite fire fighters had so much experience in the past maybe they thought it would work I’m just guessing i don’t know any thing
@joec53113 жыл бұрын
@@marymagdalinenavarro960 fire shelters can only withstand so much. A fire like that probably showed temperatures in excess of 2000 degrees. In combination with the wind, and location, the fire shelters simply couldn't handle the heat, and collapsed around the firefighters

Supervisor made a terrible decision to move from the safety zone. It was a tragic mistake the his men and himself paid the ultimate price.

don't comment bullshit like this on a serious video which affected the entire culture and state of Arizona in an irrecoverable manor comparable to 9/11.
