Isn't this light better (in terms of sustained output) even then Ace beam E70? Wonderful
@FlashlightEnthusiast2 жыл бұрын
They are pretty close with slight advantage of E70 (~1.300lm vs ~1.200lm on E07X Pro).

Is this available for purchase? I’m seeing it shown as available on the Fireflies website. I thought it was unavailable due to shortage of the LUME1 drivers. Is this the same model you review in this video?
@FlashlightEnthusiast Жыл бұрын
There is a new driver with FET channel, so potentially even better with more output in Turbo.

I can say that I absolutely do not like the thick square threaded connection on the head-body part. mainly due to the fact that this type of threaded connection has very poor thermal conductivity properties. this way you will have more restrictions in hi modes. for example, the wurkkos ts21 (sst 20 4000k) that I have. the thermal conduction from the head to the body is so weak that turbo mode lasts about 12 seconds. in the end, I had to disassemble this flashlight to use the driver on the appropriate housing.

Love this light! i have (2), ordered them back in march when FireFlies released preorder. Got sst20 5k and 4k, blue and red respectively. one is my newest most used light, the other i am keeping pristine condition because the Red is SO nice looking lol. Thanks for the review. My biggest regret - not spending the extra $20 and getting them both in xpl-hi instead. waiting for round 2 in july (according to jack) and get 2 more in xpl-hi 4k and 5k. or in 4k xpl-hi and osram if he releases with osram.

I wish it was available in XP-L Hi 4000K. 5000K is not bad at all, I even like the tint, it seems warmer than normal 5000K I encountered in the past

I am waiting on a E07X Pro ordered from Jack and he emailed me this question: "The original optics wont come back until 15th Oct. Now we have 25 degree beed optics for E07. If you can accept Beed optic, we can ship out your order tomorrow." My question for you is, is this the same new 25 degree optics that is on yours in your video review, or are these different? I am unfarmiliar with both. Any suggestions or info? I was unable to post the pics he sent of the Beed optics here, so I posted the same question with pics of the optics under your Facebook page of the E07X. Thanks, Ted.
@FlashlightEnthusiast3 жыл бұрын
It can be interesting. After using E07X Pro for a longer period of time I would like to see the option for wider optic, like older E07. The one I had in video is 10° optic, which is good for throw, yet less practical up close. So if you like floody beam, sure, go for that. I fear that the beaded optic is more than 25° though...

Love your vids, my wallet doesn’t. How many clicks or degrees do you add to the temp limit on this one?
@FlashlightEnthusiast3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I quess you control it ;) If I remember correctly I set it to 60 degrees, so 30 clicks in settings.
@ayokay1233 жыл бұрын
Stupid question, but does color temp affect run time at the various lumen outputs? I'm leaning towards the 6500k for brightness reasons, but would get the 5000k if it means longer run time. And I don't understand the SST20 vs XPL Hi difference. Is one inherently better than the other? Thanks!
@FlashlightEnthusiast3 жыл бұрын
Good question. Brightness difference does is not only due to the color temp, but also efficiency. That being said, the cool white emitters will have the longest runtime, along with max bringhtness
@ayokay1233 жыл бұрын
@@FlashlightEnthusiast Which begs the question why anybody wouldn't want the cool white? Merely color preference? And why would the 5000k option be more expensive than the 6500k? Greater demand for neutral than cool?
@FlashlightEnthusiast3 жыл бұрын
That's the question of personal preference, which is than extended to demand on the market. I suspect on enthusiast circle the demand for warmer, more pleasant tints is much greater than on mass market, where people care more about lumens
@ayokay1233 жыл бұрын
@@FlashlightEnthusiast Yeah, I'm a flashlight newbie, which is probably why I want the highest lumens. And the reason I want the highest lumens is because I live on the 30th floor of a high rise building with a large park below. Drug dealing sometimes takes place in this park and I'd like to be able to shine a bright light on the suspects because the police take so long to arrive. There are also several other large parks nearby which is why I'm looking for the best combination of throw and flood.
@FlashlightEnthusiast3 жыл бұрын
In that case cool white seems to be the best choice. Desorientating effect of cooler tint is a bonus in drug dealing scenario ;)

Great video! Is the moonlight lower on the e07? 1 lumen said that moonlight on the e12r was 4 lumens
@FlashlightEnthusiast3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Moonlight level is comparably bright I'm afraid. Harsh reality of buck driver I guess. You can set it lower than default level 3, yet flickering will be stronger. So I believe trade off is not even 😀

Earlier E07 had lower moonlight mode, about 5 times dimmer to my eyes

Excellent review, thank you for such attention to details. Your test result of 72 seconds on turbo for this new X Pro model was with xpl hi 5000k emitters. Will the xpl hi 4000k emitters run time on turbo be significantly less? Also I really would like to buy the E07X Pro in Titanium body with Copper head, but it isnt available yet (hopefully it will be). So I was actually debating on getting the original limited edition model with this option. (I already have a Red E07X Pro on the way). Will having the Titanium body with copper head help heat distribution greatly, effectively getting longer runtime on turbo before step downs? Possibly getting 40 seconds to 1 minute turbo time with the original E07? Any idea if the E12 will be offered in Ti/Cu? Thanks, Ted.
@FlashlightEnthusiast3 жыл бұрын
Well, 4000K have a bit lower efficiency, yet I suspect around 60 seconds in Turbo anyway, due to LEDs being xp-l hi and overall thermal mass of this flashlight. That being said, remeber that aluminum is so popular flashlight material for a reason - it is lightweight and has a good thermal conductivity. Ok, copper is even better in the latter, yet in the design you mention it is only in the head section, the rest is titanium (really bad material for flashlights as it is heavier than aluminum and has much worse thermal conductivity). Titanium is marely for lloks, copper saves a bit of thermal performance, yet it is still worse than pure aluminum construction. That is my view on that :)

A great comparison video would be this against the Astrolux EAO1s.
@whokilledjr37193 жыл бұрын
Astrolux lights typically use cheap fet drivers with horrible thermal regulation, the ea01s is no different, short turbo and the output drops to almost off. Fireflies handle heat and regulation much better, I believe the e07x regulates as high as 6amps which is a lot of high regulated output.

I love all your videos, very informative and it even led me to order a e07x last week. I went with the Nichia version, but now I'm wondering what battery I should use. The previous 'safe' choice for the previous e07 was 50E, but your current suggestion is to stay away. Do you think its because of the driver or the XP-Ls? What 21700s would be a 'safe' choice for the Nichia version of the new e07x?
@FlashlightEnthusiast3 жыл бұрын
Nichia sw45k, Samsung LH351D and XP-L Hi in both E12R and E07X Pro show similar results with 50E. So I suspect the driver and chemistry not matching (unfortunately I cannot explain it). So LG M50 also would fail. I checked Sofirn 21700 5000mAh cell and it works fine - i believe there is NCR21700 from Tesla/Panasonic cell inside these, so you can try those :)

the head side threads may be thin, but i feel they are Very Smooth. on both this and e12r. i have the tan e12r, and the anodization on that is Definitely more "raw" as you stated, the e07x anodization is much better finished
@FlashlightEnthusiast3 жыл бұрын
Yes, as you say they are smooth yet thin. I have doubt if they last long enough - in my opinion they should be made thicker, especially that they are being used in this connection. As you may remember, earlier E07 featured similar threads from the head side, yet those at the tail were squere and anodized - and made to be unscrewed often. Ok. here we have USB C build in, so theoretically you can give in unscrewing the tube every time you want to charge the battery. However, I find it a bit misaligned with the whole flashlight build approach here, where everything seems to build in purpose...
