I have the E12C 519A 5000k dedomed (around 3700-3800k, -0.0060DUV), it is literally a golden wall of light, it's awesome, and the group buy price of 88USD that I got it for was simply a steal! The 68USD for the SST20 version is even more insane if I think about it. Though I have to say I prefer my newly arrived E12R SW45K (incredibly rosy, -0.0109 DUV!) with the updated lume1 (ultra low moonlight mode, 1/100 of a lumen) and upgraded efficiency, it is basically the closest we've got to the perfect light. Great videos as always, Michal! :)

@@FlashlightEnthusiast in your opinion how come 519a max ramp did worse than sst20? The sst20 should have lower efficiency?

How do you feel about the tint of the sst20 4000k's in the e12 optic? I'm considering swapping out 519a's for the sst20 4000k fa4 bin to get that extra sst20 throw. I have an e12r with sst20 5000k and the tir optic makes them very green. The 4000k's in your video look perfect, on the rosy side even, if that's how they actually looked I might go ahead with the swap, either into an e12c or e12r.

My sample was indeed quite rosy, but I'm not sure if there was any optic influence. Fireflies usually has great bin of SST20 4000K. Should be a good swap

@@FlashlightEnthusiast My bad, looked up testing and apparently it can deliver more than 25A at peak. Would definitely consider buying a Molicel P45B (Epoch 45B) as it's currently the best 21700 cell on the market for your testing.

The 12C is going for $75-79……while the 12R is $108-130. Weird?

@@FlashlightEnthusiast ….Great vid, I saw that even with the 12R, you’d OK buying a 12C, too. But if you had neither, which would you buy? Spend for the better driver, or save money and take the other updates?🤔

Really don't know what to buy. I would prefer the E12R with sw45k 219b because of the wonderful tint of the 219b, i saw that the sustained output are similar, around 1000lm, maybe slightly more for E12C, and turbo is around 6200lm for E12R and around 8000lm for e12c, don't know how much visible is the difference in turbo. The E12C is waterproof, and maybe a better button, but apart from that i prefer the E12R for the better driver and the tint of 219b (even if worse than 519a). Or maybe go for a 519a E12R? To have even better performance than e12c, really don't know. Also, i like the mix of flood and throw of E12C, i mean i like the floody E12R but i also think can be useful have that bit more range.

Though question... As both lights are pretty identical in your case (no, 1800lm difference is not that much to be clearly visible) I would go with your favourite LED and tint. As new E12C have identical optics as E12R, it comes down to looks, tint and driver

I have both, and I would get the E12R SW45K hands down. I love my E12C 519A 5000k dedome (~3800k), it is literally a golden wall of light, mine is quite rosy with a DUV of -0.0060 but the E12R edges it for me. The SW45Ks have a really rosy tint on mine, a DUV of -0.0109, and it just feels fantastic in hand. The E12C has a more blocky finish on the tube which gives it more grip, but I prefer the one on the E12R, it's more subdued and smooth whilst still having a decent grip. I also prefer the head design of the E12R, I tend to stray away from using the word sexy, but the angles on that thing are exactly that. The sloped button on the E12C is nice, but on the opposite end there isn't any vertical cutout so it kind of nullifies the benefit of the button design and you're basically holding the flashlight head in a weird angle. The E12R button and opposite side of it (usb C charging flap) are vertical to the tube and provide a much natural hand positioning and a better grip IMO. The buttons have slight differences, but I can't pick one over the other, both are great, the E12R sits a bit proud whereas the E12C is flush. Yeah, the E12C has a more waterproof design with its in-thread charging, I liked it more initially, but as of late I think the E12R one is better - you can charge the flashlight/your phone and still use the flashlight, whereas with the E12C you cannot. The rubber flap cover on the E12R doesn't come off on accident and sits fairly tight so I have no concerns about its water resistance. About the lumens, yeah, the E12R SW45K does produce less lumens than my E12C 519A 5000k dedomed but you need to have a 4x increase in lumens to perceive twice the brightness so you wouldn't be able to tell a huge difference between the two (even side by side it's hard, especially since colder colour temperature appears brighter than warmer). 900 lumens sustainable output on the E12R SW45K is simply phenomenal, the human cannot notice a 100 or 200 lumens more probably even side by side considering the different colour temperature like I mentioned above. Also, the E12R has an updated lume1 driver with 1/100 of a lumen moonlight mode which is INSANE! It also has improved efficiency, now up to 98% on some modes, and about 94%+ or so on basically every other mode. RGB AUX LEDs are a nice feature of the E12R over the customisable E12C ones too. TL;DR - let's put it this way - if I had to choose a one flashlight collection, it would be the E12R with the SW45K. The best tint in the game, incredibly high CRI and especially R9 (red) colour reproduction with a really efficient and flexible driver and UI. What more can you want? @@vamheredur413 I really love the 219b, and the fact that the E12R has the lume1 driver, but in the end I had ordered the E12C at a discount and it has already been shipped, I really don't feel like cancelling the order now and redoing it for an E12R, too bad because in the end $30 difference is not that much. However, even the E12C at $80 (first buy coupon + 30% discount) is a bargain. It has superior turbo performance, same sustained lumens for a long time (though for a few tens of minutes less I think) and in max ramp however it seems to maintain almost 2000lm for several minutes like the E12R though with the lower driver. The 519a even though it doesn't have the same R9 as the 219 (I'm glad you mentioned it, I think the sw45k is the better emitter and the way it makes everything "pop" when it illuminates, I think it's partly because of how it replicates red) is still a very good high CRI led. I think I'll love it anyway ahah
