here's my argument. sure firefly is slightly stronger than boothill in terms of game content coverage and the fact that her playstyle is braindead, but boothill requires skill to play in order to be on par with her, which makes him MORE fun in a "turned based game". if you dont know, turned based games are all about strategy and boothill offers that way better than firefly since you have to "think". firefly is fun too but for me, boothill is more fun and fun is more important than pure results since this is a video game made for said "fun". also second argument. boothill doesnt require as much investment as firefly to function. let me explain. when it comes to lightcone you dont need the main stats for boothill but you do need the attack stat for firefly as it gives her break. boothill's second best in slot is arguably the three star lightcone that gives him speed. running boothill without a lightcone doesnt damage him as much as it would damage firefly. now team comps. firefly is too reliant on HMC. now HMC is a free character so it wouldnt be that big of a deal but you still NEED to build this one other unit which take recourses. ofc you run both of them with three other units, but what im saying is, if you dont have HMC built, you can replace em with pela or tingyun for boothill but not for firefly, HMc triple-quadruples her damage. now when it comes to ruanmei, I believe both of them can run without her but it is possible that either one might need her but im not 100% sure so tell me. so heres the final thought on the team comps. firefly has a fixed team which is: HMC, ruan mei, Gallagher. you might be able to replace ruan mei but im not sure (maybe with pela or sparkle/ bronya but I dont have enough info on how much they benefit her. as far as I know, ruan mei provides too much value to firefly compared to the others). boothill can use ruan mei and HMC and Gallagher but he can also use bronya, sparkle, tingyun, pela, huo huo, etc. id say boothill is more flexible on teams because he isnt as reliant on their kit as much as firefly relies on her team which means you dont necessarily have to build new units for boothill where as in with firefly you might HAVE to. now relics. boothill uses old relics which most players already probably have a lot of since they have been out for like a year. firefly can also use them but the difference between the new relics vs the old one for firefly is also huge. you kinda WANT to farm the new relics which is a pain so more grinding for firefly and possible less grinding for boothill in relics. and no the new relics dont function on boothill unless you put him in very specific scenarios where you are using him with HMC AND the enemy is weak to fire. not a good idea at all. so in conclusion, firefly overall needs way more investment than boothill which might be a dealbreaker for SOME people, but not all. if you dont have them both build, boothill is better, if they are both in their best in slot teams and builds, firefly is better. final argument. regardless of the last two arguments, if you like a character and you want em, pulling them is the best option for you over meta. if you like firefly herself, go for her. if you like boothill himself, go for him(on his rerun). I personally got them both and they are both fun, but I have a feeling I might get tired of firefly sooner than boothill because she doesnt require as much thinking which is what I like to do. I like to think. anyway if you managed to read through all that, congrats, you and I both have no life. heres some hug for you **hug**

Yeah I think the main difference is that boothil has flaws to make him balanced while firefly doesn’t really have as many. The biggest turnoff from me using my friend list’s s1 boothil is that the need to get his 3 stacks is super annoying, you NEED to waste turns breaking small ads just to even start doing any real kind of dmg, and he’s single target locked, and he taunts the enemy he’s locked on. Nothing that can’t be worked around (except maybe the 0/3 pocket trick shot thing when there are no ads to break), but definitely annoyances that made me choose firefly (I got her e2s1 as a BP and daily pass player) over boothil. It’s a shame cuz I REALLY like his kit design, it’s very thematic for the cowboy style, makes me think of part 7 jojo, but oh well

Here’s a lil trick for boothill that may help in some scenarios tho: you can target a small enemy(don’t use enhanced basic) and either ult with him or someone else to break and possible kill. This can give him 1 or two stacks whilst not ending his turn(he gets out of his target mode when the enemy breaks or dies). Then you can just get the third stack either on the same turn with a lil mob or on his next turn on a boss(usually takes two enhanced basics to break bosses or minibosses). In moc you do start off without your ult which can kinda ruin this strat but you can use tingyun and get his three stacks on the first turn. Also, if you get stacks this way, that’s also more energy towards the next ult which gives him even less downtime. Fun lil tricks like this makes me like playing with him even more. Cuz let’s be honest, the most you’re gonna miss out with him in moc is 1-2 turns if you play him right which is ultimately not a big deal unless you really really want to 0 cycle. Hope u have fun with firefly tho. If you figure out any fun tricks with her, tell me. I want to be able to enjoy firefly like boothill cuz she’s a really cool looking character.

@@ptspace7257 yeah that’s why he’s so cool, there is a lot more decisions to make. Less unga bunga more thinking, who you should break first, when to stop hitting a broken enemy to let the bleed dot finish them, etc. For firefly she’s really simple, most of the nuance comes from the e2, breaking ads to get another turn, or using Gallagher’s ult at the right time to setup the break on FF, etc.

Hoyo really cook this character, she synergize well with HarMC with a budding love story... she also goes well with Ruan Mei a lady who experiment and try to revive an emanator of propagation by cloning it, the one who destroy glamoth and all firefly soldiers also firefly is also a clone.... also firefly favorite is that cake roll which you can buy or synthesize and give a lot of break damage buffs. 😅😅

I took a very long break from Honkai early one, so much of a break that my main DPS was Seele when I came back. Picked up Fu Xuan so I could actually do the Peacony story with her and honestly could not beat the final boss without her. Then I see Firefly and after missing Acheron and soft bricking myself, I went for it. I literally cannot believe the amount of power she has. Its just a fuck you to the face everytime lmao. My poor Seele/Silverwolf/Lynx/Fu Xuan team has been relegated to cleanup crew or team 2. Now with Jade coming out, Im afraid that it might be time to say goodbye to Seele all-together.
