One of my favorite lines in any movie/show in history was that exchange between the sheriff and Mal when he was returning the medicine. One of my core beliefs is that you do what is right no matter the cost. When the sheriff says a man gets a job, he doesn't ask questions, when he finds out the truth, he has a choice.... Mal's response is exactly my core belief. "I don't believe he does"

The Rookie is another great Nathan Fillion show. ADAM Baldwin (Also, not actually one of the Baldwin Brothers). The thing I recognize him from is "Independence Day". Kazzy finishes the Pilot: "I love this show!!!" Me: "Oh sweetie...this ain't even the tip of the iceberg." Joss may be a bad human but damn if he ain't an amazing story teller and world builder.

Interesting Easter egg. On the Anti-aircraft gun, at the top center is the corporate Logo of Weyland-Yutani, which implies that firefly is in the same universe as Alien. which has easter eggs from other movies connecting it to Blade Runner, Soldier, and others not including Predator. LOL

Well, no. Soldier is connected to Blade Runner, because it was a sequel-of-sorts. Featuring the Tenhauser Gates, a spinner, etc... Alien has no connections to Soldier, as Soldier came out years later.

Oh my it's always a pleasure when someone starts getting into the verse and seems to love it after one or two episodes. I can't wait to go on this journey with you, and all of us are going to be there with you at the end. It's a bit early yet, but since you've enjoyed Rick and Morty, and Firefly, I think you definitely might enjoy The Legend of Vox Machina. There are only 3 seasons (so far) with 12 episodes per season, and each episode is just a bit over 20 minutes each. I hope you'll give it a look. 😉

GREAT show! It never got it's full 1st season run, or additional seasons, because the network really screwed it! Firefly was marketed as a super cool action show in space... not what the show is! They switched nights that it would air, at least 3 times. The network aired the episodes out of order. When Firefly aired during the Sunday night slot, the network started it at whatever period of the show the game had run over by - - instead of starting the show from the beginning once the game was over.. Just to name a few...

The real brain fungus and Nightmare fuel is that fact that there was no kids or women found abord the derelict ship. Any one care to speculate why? Remember Josh was under some pressure to keep the show Kid compatible so they could not show what the ship would have really looked like after a reaver culling and he sure as hell wasn't going to be able to show anything about the fate of the kids or women, but if one lets there imagination dip down in to the darker recesses of terror you might get a clue.

The fans that could watch the show did love it. The problem was the network messing with the show air dates and times, as well as episode order. Some episodes never aired until the collection was released. And it was really only about half a season worth of episodes, since seasons at this time were over 20 episodes per season.

I watched the "Firefly" episodes Fox TV deigned to broadcast in 2002, but I didn't see all of "Firefly" until I got the DVD set. My opinion of Fox TV is/was very low due to how "Firefly" and other potentially great TV shows were treated. So: every time a KZbin viewer falls in love with "Firefly," a Fox TV executive falls off the Nakatomi Plaza building.;) Seeing youngsters discover "Firefly" makes my heart glad. If/when you start singing "The Ballad of Firefly," you will take the first steps to becoming a Browncoat. It's a great series, with interesting characters, witty dialogue, and great world building. 1. "Serenity" 2. "The Train Job" 3. "Bushwhacked" 4. "Shindig"

A favorite story- they shot this pilot. It went to Fox. Fox wanted some changes. It particular,they said it started too slow, they wanted it to "start with a bang." So they re-shot some of it, and Joss Whedon took them literally...

After Alan Tudyk.... you said "these are all well known actors"... and I'm thinking you still haven't seen Morena Baccarin (V, Deadpool, etc.), Summer Glau (not quite as well known, but somewhat) and Jewel Staite(same as Glau) If you are a Science fiction fan you will know all three of them... maybe not so much Ron Glass (most notably from a tv show called Barney Miller)..... but then I'm thinking.... you are going to love the guest stars on this show.

Maybe someone else can verify this, but at 6:45 ..."13 clicks ahead"- isn't that only 13,000 meters? So that's 8 miles roughly. Doesn't seem very far in space, you'd think if it was a ship they'd see it.

Firefly is the only TV show to be canceled and brought back as a full cinematic movie. It really wasn't given a fair shot in its premier season. They didn't have a steady airtime. It played at different times and it played out of order. Fox did almost everything they could to kill the show

This isn't even vaguely true. There are dozens of cancelled shows that got films afterwards., The only somewhat unique thing about Firefly's was that the film condensed the plot-lines that would have made up the remainder of season 1. And that's only special because it was a theatrical release; Farscape had done that just a year previously with The Peacekeeper Wars.

@@jim1771 No, different networks. As of 2002, BVS was on UPN, Angel was on WB (before those two merged to become the CW), and Firefly was on Fox. There was a fan conspiracy theory at the time that Fox bought Firefly intending to kill it because they didn't want a competitor to have yet another Whedon hit, but there's no real evidence of that.

I've had to come to the conclusion, the reason this *FANTASTIC* Series was shut-down so quickly, was because it is WRITTEN FOR ADULT VIEWERS! Sure, younger folk can watch, but the subtleties are definitely for an older crowd. The Studio decided they couldn't handle it, and by ending it, cost themselves untold millions. The fact this Series still holds up, is still adored/respected, says it all...
