Boardgamegeek Forum answer: over on FireflyTheGame.Com page, where they previewed the Walden, they said: "The Walden is powered by a unique Tri-Capissen 28HD Drive Core. This slow but powerful engine is the only Drive Core the Walden may use. The Tri-Capissen 28HD Drive Core follows the standard rule for a Full Burn as per page 7 of the Firefly: The Game rulebook. “To initiate a Full Burn Spend 1 Fuel token.” Therefore I would say that it uses a point like normal.

K. David Woolley it is supposed to, but if you play it that way, the ship becomes almost completely worthless and no one will ever use it. playing it as the card is written at least makes it somewhat playable, though it's still the last ship picked every time. especially if you are using the two map add ons. The speed 4 drive core that can't be upgrade and complete lack of a stash make it a terrible choice for the game. It needs something to get people to actually want to use it.

I would try this ship as I've been working on a scrapper strategy where salvage ops pick up a lot of extra goodies. I know some few jobs require a heavy load penalty to full burn, maybe if there was an overall rule of X number of cargo slots full count as a heavy load for all ships. That would be an interesting way to play.

@@Trueflights It makes me wonder what they were thinking. It needs a tractor beam lol It's funny how it looks like a landspeeder!

@@CollectionTHX1138 kind of reminds me of a pod-racer. I definitely recommend playing the Walden as written on the card without requiring fuel to full burn unless it is being used by an experienced player. I often use it to put myself at a disadvantage when teaching the game. It can be built up to be an effective scraper ship with the right crew and is rather effective, but it is severely weakened again piracy as someone can easily steal your fuel reserves and leave you stranded.

@@Trueflights Great insight. It does makes sense that they didn't want to do the same old thing and wanted to add a thematic challenge and address the issue that players thought there could be more PvP interaction basically lacking in the core game.

I realized something it's odd the ships don't come with dice. I'm in the process of getting a good deal on FF Base, BlueSun NIB and B Atmo. They'd add P&B for $14 more which amounts to $40 less than amazon total. Not sure if I'd really use P&B. Sounds like it's worth it since you liked it. How often have you played with it and do players end up focusing on these jobs instead of the base game delivery and crime jobs? Or are these more of a bonus like hey I might as well attempt to board since you're here or the bounty is at this location on my way to do the standard job. Thanx for the insight!

They sell a dive pack separately that includes colored dice to match all of the available ships. It grip isn't big on the pvp, so the pirate missions get overlooked most of the time, occasionally they end up being used as a way to slow down the leader. The bounties are used regularly though and are a nice solution to the game. When one comes up and the character wanted is still on a planet, it becomes a race to get there to claim them and adds an interesting twist to the game. If they are on someone's ship, you have to decide if it is worth ticking them off in order to capture the bounty. If anything, the pack is worth it for the two new ships and new crew that offer very different play styles to the core game fireflys.
