@Cristopher Reeves Sorry this is kind of long lol.. I honestly think you would change your mind if you ever got behind the wheel of a P100D. I've seen people instantly change their mind afterwards lol. I myself was a little resistant to electric vehicles at first *simply* because they'll never sound like a badass V8. Then, I got the chance to try my friend's P100D. Being resistant to them over the fact that they don't growl, was a dumb reason to just write them off, I realized. Anyways, once I got behind the wheel, it absolutely blew my mind how quick it was. The amount of acceleration from all that torque is practically supercar status. And when you really think about it, electric is only in it's infant stages right now, which is weird to think about because they're already giving combustion cars a run for their money, and they're only going to keep getting better and better, faster and faster. _Electric is the future,_ whether you're resistant to it or not. But, still, at the end of the day, as far as a track experience goes, nothing will ever beat 10,000 hp motors or jet engines, and the sound of a V8 will always be one of my favorite sounds no matter where I'm at lol.

nah; this is a niche specialty usage, very few people use these and only for special events like this, not everyone using them on the highways. A few specialty cars is not a problem - what's a problem is what 99% of people use every day to commute to work and run errands. I don't own a Prius or any other car (did not learn how to drive cars, when walking and bikes can do.) but I _do_ agree and sympathize with green cars, at the same time though I also understand the concepts of proportionality and thus that if we even kept around a few gas-eaters for this kind of fun stuff but changed everything _else_ over to high quality green mobiles and used more walking, bikes, etc. we would still be doing an _excellent_ job for the ecosphere. In numbers: If you have a specialty car that eats 10x the gas per unit time of a normal car but runs only 1/100 the time and is used by only 1/1000 the population those cars in total emit only 1/10000th the pollution of the other cars. That means if they were all we kept around for emitters and moved everything else to zero emissions we'd save 99.99% of vehicle emissions. I'd call that a crazy success. The real shame is a lot of people don't know math and like to talk proudly about how they do bad at math and "fuck math" and so forth; c'mon, this isn't general relativity, or inter-universal Teichmuller theory. This is just ... arithmetic; grade school, yet so many have too much trouble with that. (OK I will make an exception for dyscalculia; but that's like a tiny percentage of the population who can have that excuse, the vast majority don't. We really need to learn math much better.)
@mike4ty47 жыл бұрын
@ObamaSmellsBad No, it was supposed to be serious. It was supposed to be a useful comment, in particular what I was trying to point out was that there's really no reason to consider this an "offense" to anyone who uses green cars, that one can support the use of green cars while still being able to allow for people to have a little fun with vehicles that would not be green to use in bulk because as long as they're kept as specialty items the _total_ pollution is less, and furthermore despite all that, environmental concerns still _ARE_ important. Or, perhaps, to say it another way, that you can value green, you SHOULD value green too, but ALSO you can still reasonably make an exception for "fun" cars. Basically that you shouldn't just go to just one xor the other extreme. Regardless of that, do you have anything specific to actually refute in what I said, or can you just make a mean-spirited, rude and entirely useless - insofar as advancing any productive discussion is concerned - comment? All that shows to me is you're just a rude and mean-spirited person and can't take anything that disagrees with you. And with a username like the one you have, I'm not exactly very surprised at that. There's enough of those in the world, why do you need to make another with yourself?

Imagine two cars. One is 4WD and has loads of grip. The other is 2WD and has a lot less grip, but more power. They might both do a 14 second quarter mile. An identical time. But... the 2WD car will cross the line quicker. The times are the same though, because the 4WD car got off the mark quicker. In other words, higher terminal speed = more power. Lower terminal speed running the same time = more grip/better launch
