They are one of the fire depts with badass fleets and since I live in my hometown in Kansas there are volunteer- paid departments that have nice fleet some fire depts use arffs for any fire use and some use military trucks for anything and where I live we are right next to fort riley so we see US Army Fire department, Geary County Rural Fire Department, Grandview Plaza Fire Department, Junction city Fire Department and rare to see is Milford Fire Department.

Great production here on this channel (subscribed!). Beautiful truck. I wish that Roto-Ray had been turned on, or the breaker not pulled. Maybe it was giving them an issue since it is still mechanical. Take care...

Some departments respond different depending on notes that come in over the phones and pagers. Some respond lights and sirens, others respond cold, meaning no lights and sirens.

Another question about that wonderful ladder rig 😊 what are the TWO big chrome housing RED ( side to side flashers) on front. What is the manufacturer NAME for those big RED emergency lights. I'm just asking anyone who knows. We don't have those where I am at in the NW part of the USA. 😊
@kylesvoboda3662Ай бұрын
They are referred to as “MARS 888” lights

Wichita isn't actually so unique with their AFA response. In the Midwest and on the East Coast plenty of departments will send 1 engine and 1 truck like this, and occasionally a chief or even a medic if dispatch senses something might be amiss. Volunteer departments will also stack boxes for AFA's too, in case it turns out to be a true alarm. That way there is enough people on scene. In Detroit, Michigan, most AFA's get 1 engine and 1 truck by default and I know in Chicago they will send 2 engines and a truck to most alarms as well, mostly because most of their trucks lack pumps so 1 engine will pump for the truck while the other stretches if a fire is found. Great video overall. The only thing I saw that was not great was the lack of a pole in the firehouse; having one would speed up response times.
@Firescue112Ай бұрын
Thank you very much! Yes, I just gave my experiences with American fire departments and those were all in the western part of the States.
@Firescue112Ай бұрын
*and actually they have poles in that station. But the stairs were the fastest option in this case :)
@Stargazzer811Ай бұрын
@@Firescue112 Ah fair enough. Yeah here on the East Coast aggressive responses to alarms are the norm. The urban sprawl between Norfolk and Boston is incredibly dense with homes, businesses and people so we have to be fast and ready every single time, else we could lose entire blocks. You should come over and check it all out sometime. Philly, Prince Georges County, Baltimore, Boston, Worchester, NYC, all great places to catch some amazing responses.

Thank you for a very great video 😊❤😊 of Ridealong on that huge LADDER company Can I as what was the officer pushing or adjusting on above head control box. Any time we do a public event up in my neck of the woods, you are very welcome to ride my personality OWNED 1989 Spartan Gladiator pumper. 1500 GPM. It doesn't respond code, but heck, you could RIDE shotgun. 😊 I took OUT the Airpack bracket behind the officer seat. My wife hated it and didn't know how the driver ever could SEE out officer side rear mirrors. My wife, the financial person behind my purchases, told me that's the first thing to take OFF my restoration project. It has a ( silver 92 series DD) with Allison 4 speed push buttons Automatic. 😊

A look at Europe would show Americans how cumbersome and oversized their vehicles are. The sirens are, quite literally, unbearable. In Northern Italy (South Tyrol), the sirens have a continuous tone along with a second alternating tone, which is ideal for people who can no longer hear all frequencies! Also, the firefighters carry so much gear with them, it's unimaginable in Germany. I could go on with more criticism... The video felt like a glimpse into another century. I’m appalled. About me: 20 years as a group leader. A tip: just watch videos from other countries! Good luck.
@Firescue112Ай бұрын
You could never tell Americans, how to do things - even if you are right. Tradition is strong with them, especially in the fire service. The system works, the guys are awesome and I really enjoy seeing those differences to the european systems :)

Truck AND Battalion to a fire alarm? Gotta pad those stats for busiest in the Nation
@Stargazzer811Ай бұрын
Not really. On the East Coast you'll see paid departments stack an entire box alarm assignment onto an AFA if it's a large enough building, like a high rise apartment building or warehouse.
