Great channel Alex and Ryan. I rather keep Cabrera as our utilityman. But just play Cabrera more! Go Yankees!

I agree with comments about no other signings until Sasaki decision. But Cabrera is totally tradable. Like it or not Lemehieu is your backup on both corners bc of dollar commitments.Peraza who is out of options can back up the middle. Jazz can do 3rd and CF as well. Ben Rice will be up at some point and do some 1B. Cabrera is the definition of utility guy, plus D and light hitting. U scan every teams AAA you'll find a bunch of Cabreras.. What I'd like to see if we land Sasaki package Cabrera Schmidt and Will Warren up for Jose Ramirez at 3B.

We know what arraez is! Are we serious!? A guy had a wrc+ of 107 and we’re not going to sure up our every day infield with a MUCH more valuable player this season because we know Cabrera is a wrc+ of 107??? I’m not a Arraez fan at all! I dont necessarily want to go with another limited option in the infield. That said, wtf are we even talking about here? Am I taking crazy pills? Oswaldo Cabrera has never put up an even AVERAGE offensive season. Yes his defensive flexibility is awesome for roster flexibility. I also think something could be said about Cabrera as a person. He seems to be an asset in the clubhouse (just opinion). All that said, I sincerely don’t get this at all. Tyler wade played a lot of pistons too. As much as you can say Cabrera is improving you can also easily see him having a miserable offensive season (ie 2023) and end up having him slowly fade into nothingness. I genuinely don’t think thats unrealistic given his career to this point. Cabrera is an awesome dude and an awesome bench piece, but a nice bench piece should never stop you from acquiring a starter.

I think the point of this is that the Padres would probably be willing to take a lot less, since he would be more of a salary dump than anything else

@@firesideyankees I can understand the logic to a degree but at what point are you overvaluing a career ops + 79 player? I think the reality here is cabrera, given the state of our current bench options, might be more valuable to us when considering the status of our bench. But looking at the value each will bring to our roster or our ability to win games next year, bringing in Arraez directly increases our offensive projections, somewhat significantly when looking at individual offensive stats. Thinking a role player holds that much value that we should wait for a better option because we “could maybe possibly have Cabrera + a starter” is flirting with having Cabrera himself getting more meaningful at bats. Let me say this, I love and support the channel and the things you guys put out! That said, I think it’s crazy to say things like it’s not the right time or team to allow a guy like Ben Rice to develop (just as an example) but at the same time insinuate it’s ok to not have a starting caliber option at 3rd base anytime soon because Cabrera has so much value. In fact, I’d go as far as saying outside of DJ, Cabrera is the most replaceable piece of the team on the offensive side of the ball! Either way I appreciate the response and look forward to seeing what cash pulls off here.

Arraez is a bad fit regardless of the asking price. Lefty contact bat and a negative at 2B is not what this team needs. Depending on what is being offered moving Cabrera should be considered he’s not untouchable. Grisham is the 4th outfielder, Rice can play C/1B, and Peraza can cover the rest of the infield. Peraza is a better infielder than Cabrera even if he’s a worse hitter it’s not by much let’s be honest. Pereira and Vivas can be the two emergency guys for a few games if injuries pile up. I do expect the Yankees to make trades during the season they have a ton of pitching at all levels right now.
@tiedero115 күн бұрын
No to Cabrera for Arraez, even in a "do nothing" alternative. Plus how many 1 year deals can we do? In addition to backing up everybody, I could see Cabrera as a late inning defensive replacement for Arraez. Guys like Cabrera are crucial to World Series winners.
