@plank407 I wish we knew more about the young man. I don’t think I have ever missed a show, but I don’t recall the young man ever telling us anything about himself. Does he have a car himself, or is he even interested in cars? Are these hours just for school credit? Has he ever welded before? He seems to be such a nice young man and definitely shows some talent. It would be nice to know a little about who he is so we can cheer him on in the right direction. Will Aiden be coming back? Anyway it was just a thought I had Jolene.

Here in the U.K. there is very few places teaching welding, I was lucky and learnt at school over 50 years ago, I don’t think any schools now teach it. Fabulous opportunity Chad is giving the lad to learn a skill that could lead to a future in not just car bodywork but any welding requirements that he could earn a good income from. Thank you Chad and Jolene for not just teaching him ,but everyone who cares to watch.

The way you are teaching this young man is more valuable than a thousand in class hours of teaching. Doing is the best form of learning. Teaching someone the technical formulas of pattern making with measurements , angles and calculations is so time consuming. Chads way is much simpler and obviously quicker. No doubt there will be times that you need those formulas but not all the time. This guy will learn to not over think a job and how to problem solve on the go. Lucky bugger, hope he knows it.👍👍🇨🇦

I totally agree with the cooling the metal with water. I started doing it in the 80's do get better controll with out soaking the metal and ground. Maybe its like a lot of things in this business. You do it that way because it's the way it's always been doon ? Of course I also would use my unispotter to heat schrink too so I didn't have to go get the torch and, the guys would laugh about it until they tried it. Its time we all learn new tricks and you have a ton of really useful and helpful tip and tricks. I really like the way you do your floors in runsted out cars. There is no sence to buy expensive panels when they don't fill with out a lot of work or look as good. At least I think they don't. Thanks for the tips amd your time.

I think that he did a great job today. A fence for long beads would be a great thing for anyone. A goude in front of the bead would help as well. Either way it makes you more accurate as well as faster in bead rolling. Now may be a good time to choose the engine you are going to use, With a small block chevy engine the distributer is on the back of the engine which you could apply in your design now for the fire wall instead of later ..... just saying. It just help to have a little bit of a plan. Another great day of building.

I have had to put a lot of plywood down on existing old floors that have doors and many corners. To get the plywood to fit perfect I have used regular card stock and fit it to the floor without a lot of cutting of the sides, holding it together with tape. The patterns come out with a perfect fit because of the straight edges are not cut. Too use this type of 8.5 X 11" card stock the first piece or two are taped to the floor so it does not move. After this is done the pattern does not move because all of the next pcs are taped to the ones taped down. This can be used to make fire walls and many floor pan parts. Hope this helps you speed the process up. I know it sure helps me and shortens the time to do such things....... Hope I have explained this in a way that makes sense: JWM
