Is the Hard Working Man going to take on Allen's Family Firewood Lion's Challenge?
@hardworkingmanoutdoors
@hardworkingmanoutdoors Жыл бұрын
John, not sure the Lions here do any fire wood. I am trying to set up a firewood day to help out a retired co worker/veteran who heats with wood and could use a hand. I like helping out directly when I can but also pitch in for organizations. Hopefully I can get time off work for the Hoosier Firewood Hysteria again this year to split for the Veteran’s Campground in Indiana.

Found a bit out today. The Knights of Columbus put split wood at our store at gas pump station. Helps them with their charity, I guess A LOT.. It started from me, "Can you believe people buy this?". I guess they work hard at it, (they have the shrink wrap machine) and it helps them with their mission. Talking to cook at work, who's a good guy.

I believe selling points to some of the smokeless pits are what accessories that either come with them or can be purchased later. Some have a special ring that you put on top that can be used as a grill (like a griddle style).

Nice comparison. I bought each of my three sons a Solo Bonfire for Christmas 2 years ago and they love them. I definitely think we will see a lot more smokeless pits on the market. I’m thinking my off cuts (4”-12” pieces), could be split, bagged, and marketed for smokeless pits.

Dick, I didn’t really think all the hype was warranted but after trying this out first smokeless firepit experience and a lower priced pit I definitely see the draw now. More tests to come. I think figuring out the wood sales answer to these pits sooner rather than later will help wood sellers stay ahead!

I do 1 cu ft bundles with the bundler, shrink wrap, staples handles and math says it costs me $.40c per bundle. It takes me a long time. I found bags cost $.50c per bundle but delivery for the bags eats into it bring it to around $.85c per bundle. I have been contemplating on buying 100 bags to test. Not sure if should raise the price by $.50c per bundle or eat the cost for testing purposes. The idea here is to try and spend less time bundling and dealing with the price increase. Thanks for the video!
@hardworkingmanoutdoors

Thank you. There are definitely pros and cons to each. The Wolfe Ridge bagging station definitely makes bags much quicker and easier than the bucket method we used. However bundles far out performed the bags in this test.

Great video. I like the comparison videos for sure. Now I rather the look of the traditional fire pit better. But that’s just me. Nothing wrong with the smokeless one, I’m more use to a normal looking fire I guess. Those smokeless pit are basically like new wood stoves. They burn the gases to produce more heat and lessen the emissions. Less smoke. Surprised by the bag and bundle wood sales. Thought it would be about the same. Have a nice Sunday.

Thanks Noel, I too figured the bags and bundles would be pretty close in sales. I also like the look of a traditional pit but the fire was much better in the smokeless pit. I also like the black powder coating instead of the all stainless look but we will see how it holds up.

Jimmy, thank you, my niece is doing pretty well considering. She is a trooper and is through the worst of it. As far as the pit goes the inside is 430 Stainless and the outside is powder coated.
