A full cord of firewood is 128 cubic feet stacked and 180 cubic feet loose....here is how to know how much you have and avoid touching your firewood too much when you haul it, sell it, count it, move it, burn it, store it, dry it .....look at it.

I'm so happy when a you tube wood hound says " I don't stack wood". As we evolve and grow, it dawns on us, that every time we handle wood costs us time not spent with those we love.

Great video. I made bins to use this year too. After watching you and others. To compare I stacked about 16 cords and tossed about 16 cords in the bins. Both dried good. But the bins dried faster. GNI

I decided to build wood bins after seeing your style last year, it was the best decision to make . An hour or two assembly time is nothing compared to the time spent stacking.

Yeah, if I had a big farmland like that it would be a no brainer, but since it’s in my yard, stacking is the better option. Those piles are ugly

Glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought thrown wood was 180cf. One thing that always looks weird in your video's is your trailers always look super full, almost way over what my trailer looks like but all I have is a 7x16 dump trailer thats 2ft deep and when I throw in a face cord it looks like theres barely anything in it lol

Yes white oak is a closed cell structure wood and will not allow wood to wick into it but red oak wicks wood fast and easy.

Math police here. A cord is a measurement of volume (LxHxW). In the large trailer, it is said up to first mark level (top of metal) is 2/3 of a cord. And up to top of 1st board level is a cord. Looking at these volumes it appears that these volumes are not in thirds. The 1st board height is just a little less volume than the top of the metal volume (halves?). So, a 2-face cord delivery is almost half a 3-face cord delivery. Math doesn't like this. Maybe stack 1/3 cord, throw in trailer, level, and mark. Throw in another 1/3 cord, level, and mark, etc...... I'm guessing you give extra wood to your customers anyways - but I'm definitely ordering 3 face cords and not 2 face cords if I'm getting double the volume of wood.
