That is a beautiful bunch of locust. It is worth more as firewood than anything else and is easier to process. It is one of the hottest burning and easiest splitting of all woods. I would burn it exclusively if I had enough. I like your videos Brad, they are informative and you are a good speaker. Lots of work waiting for you.

Those sure are some nice locust poles, but it’s firewood, I know they are great for fence poles but needs to be 5” diameter or less. You’ve leaned from your early days on here that the big knarly nasty stuff is more work than worth. Hope you and family have great time camping this weekend.

Nice days work Brad. I have all intentions of making it to “fellowship” next year. About a 6hr. drive. Not too bad except for navigating around “the rich men north of Richmond”. I’m sure it will be worth it!

Have you ever tried noodling the big/nasty rounds in half or thirds and then split? a lot of good firewood in that stuff.

Been enjoying Your channel for a while now. Would a splitter on the skid steer break down those big rounds easily. Love that Locus burns super Hot!

Thanks so much for the support. I think a log splitter for the skid steer would work sometimes but I really don’t get huge stuff enough to justify one. Of course if I had one, maybe I would take bigger stuff lol

What kind of a place do you take the nasty, normally wood? Is it somehow put to good use or is it more like dumped in the woods to rot?

It’s a mulch production facility. They grind chip and make mulch products

Thanks great idea. A mulch manufacturer near me will take chips from tree service guys for free but they charge you to drop off logs.

Hey Brad that's a lot of good firewood you got there. You shouldn't use true fuel The saw doesn't run as good its cheap fuel for a reason.

We don’t have ethanol free pumps around here. Can get it at the marinas in larger quantities

Never heard that one lol. It’s a high BTU output wood. Even higher than oak. In great demand around here

Brad, I have a question about the gadget you wear on your hat. Is it a microphone or a remote control for you camera? If it is a microphone can you tell me where I can get one? Thanks!

Hey there! It is a microphone and it’s called a Serimonic blink 500. It works well and is much cheaper than the Rode mics. They are on Amazon. Hope this helps
