It's fireworks' night here in the UK on Saturday. Stay safe!

Is the permitted age at which children can buy fireworks too low? We ask these questions while visiting a Fireworks Factory to see the safety precautions in-built in the modern firework. The tester fires off a quarter of a million a year in the interests of quality control. 速 速 All the Manufacturers and most responsible retailers are agreed on the need to sort out the anachronisms in the law and already refuse to sell to children under age. If only parents could share the same responsibility and impress on their children the hazards of foolishness. If not, the spectacular display with which this newsreel ends may soon be the only way to enjoy a firework display. The fun and excitement of the back garden Bonfire night may soon be a thing of the past.

Oh, the thrill of being given a box of fireworks as a kid! The smell of the ingredients, the gorgeously primitive, brightly coloured labels that promised so much with their curious names…terrific times.
