Firing at Pleasure Point | July 17th 2024 | Santa Cruz California Surfing

The summer swell this week hit Pleasure Point especially perfectly! Epic, perfect, clean waves, and so many amazing surfers out at the point on the East Side of Santa Cruz, California. Also tons of chaos, drop ins, wipeouts as is to be expected!

My nephew’s dad Bruce has a kid took me surfing to pleasure point we were from down south. It was the first cut back I ever did the way it was patient and gave me time. I’ll never forget that feeling.

I lived right on the point in 1968…handful of locals..surfed this area everyday for 12 months…this and the hook

Holy F?!$ that place has gotten crowded! It was bad in the 90’s but NOTHING like that. I’m about 10 minutes from Lowers and it gets just as crowded, but at least there’s a left as well as a right. That’s just a right with a small take off spot and literally a hundred people on it all elbow to elbow. No thanks!

Hey is this a good beginner level? I am trying to get into surfing as a hobby but I am also worry about sharks and stuff. Any advise or recommendation? T hanks

Lots of good beginner spots around Santa Cruz like cowells, jacks and capitola :) I would recommend starting at one of those spots/getting a lesson or two to get you going.
