FIRING SURF AND CRAZY BACKWASH BARRELS

Jamie i just wanna thank you for charging the shore break closeouts in vids rather than always going to perfect waves. Its definitely really important for all the kids and people learning to surf who watch these to get psyched on getting in the ocean no matter where or what conditions, charging a closeout is the best ways to learn positioning, paddling, popping up fast, falling, tube riding and comfortability on a wave in general. Sometimes it may be the only option, and for me it was so thats how I learned to tube ride, lots and lots of wedging closeouts, slamming on the sand, continuously falling in the tube or off the drop, learning finishing maneuvers on sketchy sections, lots of tweaked necks, boards to the head, that all taught me the most important lessons for my surfing. on the other hand there are people who don't think of it as an option, when theres a crowded rip-able peak or point break right next door, but I always have way more fun charging empty closeout barrels and doing one sick floater or two turns to the sand than waiting 10 minutes to get one ride amongst the pack. People get stuck for years trying to surf the "good waves" with no progression, I really do think that the best way to quickly improve your surfing is to surf closeout barrels and whacked out shore breaks, often, as much if not more than you surf the "better" waves. Sadly a lot of new surfers don't realize this, but these vids give me hope. Hopefully if I get as pumped to surf closeouts watching you charge them all the time, then others can too

Thanks so much for posting these videos and keeping the psych strong! I grew up surfing and was on surf team, surfed pipe, Costa Rica, South Africa, etc until I broke my neck going over the falls while charging shore break at Salt Creek. Took a ten year hiatus and never thought I’d surf again until I saw your channel and remembered how fun it was, now I’m out as much as I can.
