I oil the rods that go into the cylinders with steam oil. That’s how they do it on my heritage railway. I’ve just picked it up.

Beautiful little loco! I bought a full set of castings and materials for this very loco from DJH around 20 years ago but never had the time to get on with it... Did you have a drawing for the Stephenson's gear? I only ask as I gathered everything together a short while ago but couldn't find that drawing and when I got in touch with DJH, his son said that there wasn't one on record... 😟

Hi Graham, I have the drawings of the valve gear so if you email me I'll sent you a PDF. If you go to my channel page and under 'about' is my email address.

Is there a book/books you can recommend to get reading about model engineering. I have tried getting hold of blueprints of a local loco but I am finding this difficult. Is there a resource guide or source for blueprints, supplies, shops. Google is not enough for this hobby!

There's quite a good book that show all the details of building a small engine similar to this called 'Steam Trains in the Garden' by Brian Wilson. It's expensive but well illustrated with lots of detailed drawings.

Chainsaw bar oil is very sticky, I blend it with gear oil to get a thick and sticky bearing oil

Hi Duwi, it depends how much time you have. A couple of hours an evening might see you finish a small loco in a year.

When i buy,how much does it coust??
@GandyDancerProductions6 жыл бұрын
It depends how much you want to make yourself or buy ready made. It a balance between your skill level, time available and the tools you have. This loco was made from castings and probably cost me $500 and a lot of time to complete.
