Just bought this same unit during the last winter cyclone. I'm planning on hooking it up like this. Thanks for the video, it seems very capable!

@@c.juneau410 yes pretty much. Running a 9500/12500 Westinghouse interlocked into a 50 amp breaker. Soft start on my HVAC outside unit. I keep the stove, hotwater heater, off. I installed current monitors on both legs of the 120v power inputs to monitor my watts consumption and total amount of load when running the generator. I still haven’t had to use it but a couple of brief times since installing everything about 4 years ago. I try to exercise the generator at least every other month.

We have used the kzbin.infoUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

FYI .... the 50 Amp outlet on this generator has a 31 Amp circuit breaker. You may find out that your house A/C may not start without having a Soft Starter installed on the compressor unit.

Where did you buy the generator cord or did you make one?

Good question, sometimes it’s hard to see the updates in the description, but what was pictured in the video is not what I ended up with, I will summarize the changes below from the comments. To answer your question I originally made my cord but then decided to change it out later for a safer version, if someone other than me was ever hooking it up. I kept the original cord link below, but changed out the end to a twist lock also linked below. 50 amp 25’ Power Cord amzn.to/36UCKj5 After the video was up, I ended up changing out my plug end to a twist lock vs what came on the end of the power cord and I changed my box out as well. These are what i changed it out too: 50 amp Twist Lock amzn.to/3fl1hlF 50amp Power Inlet Box: amzn.to/3C0Q4hV

Nice! Other than the hot tub you should be able to power everything including the AC as long as you don't turn too many appliances on at once. Also you may want to get a soft start or hard start kit for your AC. With my 10k doing less on natural gas I just brute force it on without turning anything off. My AC and fridge has a start delay, have UPS on the entertainment system, nothing is really going to surge. I'm just careful not to run too much as once. If I'm say running the microwave I won't have the coffee maker or toaster on. Switched most lighting to LED. AC has a hard start kit.

The Firman t07571 has a bounded neutral and your interlock allows sharing the neutral with the house resulting in bounding at the generator and at the main panel which is against NEC code.... This will cause parallel return current on neutral and ground in normal operation (not a good situation). The fix as per NEC is either to unbound the generator or install a tansfer switch that also switches neutral in which case you will also need to ground the generator.

Transfer switch the neutral. How do you do that.
@ChuckMorton
@ChuckMorton 7 ай бұрын
@@glennmartinez6155 its a seperate box, where you take certain circuits out, but a lot of transfer boxes only switch the hot, and in that case the neutral is tied to both the generator and the house panel.

@@TNYankee2020 did you end up unbonding your generator? It is fairly easy, and I keep a bonding plug (Neutral to Ground tied in plug) in case I ever need to use the generator not hooked up to the house (and house ground to neutral bond point). I have the same generator and use NG but have about 25 gals of propane on hand as backup. I like the setup until I go solar/battery backup.

@@TNYankee2020 Now you have. The point here is to switch over without turning off all the breaks. Do a power use report. On how much power is on during day/nite. Change light bulbs to LED, Frig/Freezer, A/C, and Heater (low draw startup) with soft start, PC, and Everything that would be on and do not auto restart. See if you can just switch over. But turning off the A/C breaker would be the safe route. After switching over. Reset the A\/C breaker should all work. But do turn off all unneeded draws. don't use 1500 watt hair dryer etc.

I also plan to buy the T07571 and was wondering whether it is OK to use it to power 'modern smart' fridge you know those with gadgets such as WiFi etc... I have a Samsung fridge whose manual warns against powering it on a non-inverter generator. Do you have one of those recent sensitive fridge? And, if so did you power it successfully with the generator? Thanks, Pierre

My understanding is that the T707571 burns up the rectifier if you disconnect the NG bond a the generator. I am going to call Firman to see if this also affects the T07573.

Too bad no one every compare gas usage with other brands? I live off the grid…We go though lots of portable generators in the last 20 years… We found some providing better gas mileage than others.. I just brought a Firman 9,000 watt…boy I am surprised how much it burns fuel…not good…almost 1/2 -1gal gallon more …. Aloha

I read people complaining about the loud noise this unit makes. My main concern more than the noise is dirty power it apparently provides. At 11%-14% THD, I'm concerned electronics will get damaged. Anyone have comments/opinions on this point?

I'm still just looking into getting a generator. I read in a post somewhere that you can just go buy a power back up unit for your more expensive electronics those should smooth out the power coming from the generator. Not sure it's true. But thought I'd let you know.

You need an inverter generator for home back up, it delivers clean power that won't damage electronic, motors, and anything with a circuit board
@larryjanson4011
@larryjanson4011 Жыл бұрын
only the inverter generators make clean power. ALL of the "open frame" units also know as contractor generators make very "dirty" power. are very noisy, burn twice, or up to five times the fuel. (as a side note, some construction job sites are now banning them due to the DB levels being so high). but USE a manual lock out and/or a computer controlled swap over control. NEVER allow any juice from your generator to back feed into the grid. as you can kill a wire worker who believes the line to be dead. got a large battery bank?
@Teleman01

I was going to put a lockout switch like this on my outside panel. But unfortunately, the people who wired my house in the 90s did install a "main breaker" that cuts every single thing off in the house. It only has a breaker that turns off the panel inside the house, then there is a separate breaker for my garage HVAC, then a separate breaker for my house Hvac. So there are three breakers lol. So there's no way to put in a lockout that would lock out everything. I would have to get an electrician to rewire the whole panel to 200 amp service with a main breaker. Not paying for that lol....
