Thank you for the video David. I requested a loaner from Tamron for the 20-40 and the 50-400. I should hopefully get them by early next week. I'm curious to try the 50-400 as my 150-500 is not that great on my A7RIV. I am not sure why but my hope is that the 50-400 is better in which case I will do a swap from 150-500 to the 50-400. Same with the 17-28 to 20-40 switch. Although the 17-28 has no issues. Thanks again for a great, detailed explanation.

I would try the firmware update on the 150-500mm too

@@davidakoubian3025 Thanks for the heads up David. I will do so and see what happens. In the meantime, I will test the 50-400 as I am leaning towards that lens for it being lighter and wider in range for my landscape work. I do not do much wildlife work. But if I did, I would get at least a 600mm with 1.4X or 2X capability. Back in the day, the few times that I shot wildlife with a 400mm f3.5 manual Nikon on an APSc body, I realized that it was way short to reach birds in Ding Darling in Florida.

I'm struggling with two lenses, the Tamron 150-500mm and the Tamron 50-400mm. If you could only choose one lens, which lens would you choose? Thanks

It depends. If I am just photographing wildlife at a distance the 150-500mm is a better choice. If I am able to get closer to the wildlife or want to include more of the scene, the 50-400mm is better.
