More than two years here and i am fine with 2-3 times a week, but, our school does every class one hour of rolling without rest as a must, then we usually do half an hour of technique and then another hour of rolling, i barely manage every week to be honest 😹😹

I started last week, and something that may be useful for new white belts is that your first few weeks, if not months should be dedicated to surviving. Don't worry about offense or holding dominant positions too much. Work on setting up frames, escapes and sweeps, and fundamentals like the hierarchy of positions and defensive ranges before you move on to finishes.

@@Ella.2023 Yeah we roll on the mat. Jiujitsu isn’t about hurting anyone, but rather controlling them. There’s no punching or hitting or kicking, just technique. It builds positive mentality, and lowers the adrenaline rush when you get into a real fight, because you’ll know what it feels like and what to do. It also builds your socialization skills. Overall, one of the most effective ways to improve your social, mental, and physical health, while making friends and learning while doing so! 100% recommend trying it out.

First class tonight. I've trained many martial arts and always remember feeling most exposed in my furst boxing class. BJJ was something else though. It was 90 minutes of trying my best to survive. First instinct was to use my strength, but i was gettimg tured after a couple of minutes before getting passed. Thankfully its one of the few sports where egos go out of the window. Its not just about winning, people genuineky share their knowledge. It took me the furst hour before someone told me to just rekax and react, i was putting everything into trying to restrict their movenent that i was burning out quickly. The skill difference betweena blue bekt, a white bekt and a novice is insane. Its not like striking where you could pull off a fluke KO. If youre not preoared you will be submitted. I'm just glad ive watched and read enough to understand itll be a humbling experience. I cant wait to get back on the mat
