Hey Brock love the channel dude I learn a lot from your videos.. I have a question I just changed my clutch fibers and. Springs in my 600 cbr RR and idk it fixed the slippage but it still is not as stiff clutch feel as I’d like do u have any springs you sell or fibers or plates that would help I could buy?? Or do you reccomend a slipper clutch ? Just wondering my bike is 2005 cbr600rr

The Bandit 1200 made an impact over here in Germany because it was in the 98hp (which the GSF 1200 was rated) insurance class and unlimited was more than 2x as expensive. The GSF 1200 was quickly discovered to make that at the tire and reliably make around 110hp and more at the crank. Replacing the original muffler reliably yielded 120 to 125hp. Rejetting the carbs and switching to used gsx-r 750 cams would put them at around 140hp and 125 Nm of torque for about 6-800€. They were the hottest naked back then beating the ZRX1200 with simple mods for less money. The Magazines were full of it and the Bandits were sold almost right out of shipping container. I wanted to rebuild mine after 100,000km but other than an intake valve being little tight, everything else was still within manufacturing tolerances even with 35% power over stock. Not bad for the cheapest full size bike in the 90's. Put it back together and reworked the suspension with öhlins springs and fork oil and a honda fireblade rear shock for 350€ and it's as powerful rides as smooth as a modern bike. I love it.

Thanks for that info. I'm riding a 2001 Bandit 1200 s with a Yoshi pipe in the mountains of Colorado and it's a good running bike but when I get over 10,000 ft I could use a little more power. I take it those 750 cams just go right in with no modifications right?

@@larrywhitesell4139I have GSXR 1100 cams from an '89 and they were plug and play. But it lost under 3.5k what it gained above 7k, just so you know. Some GSF/GSX/GSXR cams of that era were interchangeable, but they had different cam specs obviously and at some point they switched the GSXR to using shims for valve lash adjustments, don't think they fit. There was a specific thing with the 750's cam they did. They only used one cam (exhaust I think) so it would gain 5-10ish hp up top without losing down low. The discussion was in the German Fighters forum, but that got scraped about 2 years ago, so i don't have the specs, model year etc. Advancing ignition timing by 2° is also somewhat safe still. Not a huge gain, but it adds up.

Love this. I've always loved Bandits and have had several. I got into some of the simpler mods but then I progressed to others like, air shifter, upping displacement, new springs and valves, Webb cams, Mikuni RS carbs, head work, new ignition, swing arm, new front and rear suspension, new clutch, and then nitrous. It was a blast on the street (could commute on it and did often) and kicked ass for grudge matches at the track. This bike and you inspired it. Thank you.

Great video mate! I had the opportunity a few years back to ride my buddy's 12 ZX14 that only had your full-length exhaust and the Power Commander tuned (by you all) and that bike was bloody fast! If my memory serves me correctly he had put it on a dyno and it peaked at around 204-205 hp. Impressive work gents!

Love it man! I just had to sell my 2016 Bandit 1250, so sad, loved that bike man. You were pretty much on point with the HP, stock it has 92hp to the rear. With all bolt on parts, pc5 and Woolich flash, I got 'er to 136hp to the rear and 92fpt. One of the most fun bikes I've ever had, she will be missed😔. Much love man, peace :)

Just discovered your channel. Great vid & brilliant bike! Both are very well thought out & common sense solutions to the fastest drag bike concept. Without breaking the bank or making a tempermental "good for 1-3 passes" drag/approach to developing any competition bike. Back in 97 my pro mechanic/AMA semi casual housemate racer ran Superbike class @ Sears for "Sh*ts & Giggles" on a 750cc frame early aircooled GSXR w/a 1100 built & bored out approx. 1294cc engine stuffed in it. 100% CA street legal bike with JDM perfect Slingblade plastic/fairings on it. Suspension was fully reworked as well. Like your bike, that bike was built for performance & reliability. Always a fan fave as he'd invariably wheelie it down the front straight every lap when he ran it. That bike was making just shy of 200hp (dyno) @ the rear wheel back then. Your vid immediately brought back old/fond memories. TYVM 👍. He successfully raced 250cc Stock class multiple years (aka the "Ninja 250cc class back then") & on his most successful a&;modded Ninja 250cc he had the rear rim widened to within 3mm of his stock Gixxer rim. @ Sears or Laguna, 125cc/250cc stock class truly showcased the rider talent over the most highly tuned or expensive bike & the same guy won the class 5 of 6 years in a row. Definitely going to check out more vids then subscribe. Again proves it's talent & engineering & you don't necessarily need a VMax or Hayabusa to be fast. Common sense & talent will shine through.

I REALLY miss the roadcourse qualification rules for Street class bikes. Thats when I first saw street bikes drag race and what I fell in love with as a street drag bike. I have had the nitrous do that to me before, it is 'Interesting' It's AMAZING how much better the tech has got for sensors and being able to build a bike that will dam near ride itself. Interesting you built out the stock heads rather than going the gsx1100 route like a lot of the guys I knew did.essentially rebuillding the bandit lump into a gsx1100 and tuning from there. Good gods we need a Nostalgia class to get these things back on the strip!

I'm a huge GSF1200 fan... my current unit has 150K miles...120 HP/83 lbs torque - 81mm pistons, stock carbs Ivan needles, mild headwork, suspension upgrades. Do-It-All bike, from cross country touring to trackdays. Best bike I've ever owned.

Wow, that looks like more fun than should be legal to ride! I have an 87 ZL1000 Eliminator, owned it almost 30 years and its in mint condition. I have put more miles on it this year than the past 15. What is not easy to find are good shops who can provide performance builds for the older inline motors. Ride Safe Brock! Great story.
