You can use chamomile for the eye infection, You make it like you make tea, let it cool and apply it with a cotton ball to the eye

I’m glad yall’s worked out so smoothly! Our kunekune mix gave birth friday night and she only had 2 but the last one got stuck and luckily we were there it took is several hrs to free the it and luckily it lived! We have a healthy mom and 2 babies. We have been giving penicillin injections the last 2 days to make sure she is healthy!

Congrats you guys! That first litter of piglets is sooo precious. I remember feeling very accomplished and excited when my 1st Hamps were born. Pigs / sows try very hard not to crush babies. It happens. It's a hard loss but its part of it.

I have seen the piglets barrier on both sides to protect the piglets. Is not important at this time of the smaller space these barrier create as the mother can go out at will. After all, these barriers are just for a short time to prevent accidents. Put the crush rail higher. Restrict the sow's movements (sow can't walk/turn around) to allow the piglets time to move out of the way before she lies down to feed them.

They are so adorable! I really like Kunekune pigs. My granddaughter has raise pigs for years for 4H & FFA, but they're butchered so young and eat a lot. Kunekunes are great all around and fairly easy keepers. Congratulations❤️

My great grandfather came from the old country of Lovina. Loving no longer exists. He was a farmer. He told my mom to leave the sows alone. My parents were concerned that they would have their piglets in the fenced in wooded area of the pen. Great grandpa said they would be fine. My dad talked to his father about their concerns. Grandpa said my dad had to get the one of the sows into the the lean-to that dad had built and to put in a crush board. My parents should have listened to great grandpa. They sows wanted to be left alone. Whitey, the white colored pig, was the sow that went into the lean-to. My mother was canning peaches. She put the peelings and peach pits into the bucket which was fed to the sows. Whitey ate the pits. Do not ever feed peach pits to animals. There is cyanide in the pits. Whitey went crazy after she ate the pits. She torn off the crush board my dad had securely fastened to the lean-to. My parents thought the stress of moving Whitey into the lean-to and the accidental poisoning with the peach pits, Whitey killed a lot of her piglets accidentally. She was a good mother. Rosie, the rose colored sow (we were really imaginative with the pig names) was allowed to stay in the woods. Rosie didn't get as many peach peelings and pits as Whitey had. Rosie was left alone. She ate her piglets. I don't know if she was also affects by the peach pits or not. My dad said she was a horrible mother. She went off the freezer camp right away. Whitey went to freezer camp later. Dad was done having pregnant sows on the property.

Life on the farm is never boring. Piglets look very healthy. You will lose some, just be prepared for that. The rail just needs to be a little higher, with second board above that. Thin out straw, and put heat lamp on that side in the middle. That way pigs can move both directions when mom lays down. Blessings🙂
