The last line of this song is absolutely devastating. "You get lost counting the years since you last felt like you were home, well I thought you were home"
@delewan5 жыл бұрын
No kidding. Even outside the context of the song, that line strikes so hard. I recently drove north into the mountains of Vermont for the first time in years, and this was blasting in my rental car... and that last line almost made me pull over.

guy's? i think you got the sex of the SISTERS wong, it should be written with a feminine ending, they are female after all. maye you should try 'love you ladies' if you want to be respectful and acknowledge them correctly ( after all you do love them...)
@TS-hg7fn5 жыл бұрын
@@geoffmunn7591 "Guys" can also be used to describe a group or more than one person despite which gender is in the group. For example, a group of people can be 3 boys and 2 girls (or it can even be just girls or just boys) and someone can call out to this group saying "Let's go guys" referring to the whole group and not a specific gender (even a girl will call out to another group of girls this way). I am sure this comment knows that they are girls and I do not think they were being disrespectful in any way. Using guys to refer to a group is slang that many people use (where I am from). There are lots of articles about the topic of calling a group of people "guys" and most of them write about when it is appropriate to use and when it is not. This slang can be confusing.
@kelleybacher24693 жыл бұрын
@@TS-hg7fn Thought there was about to be a feminist argument lol very poignant explanation. People from different countries often don't understand the slang and can be off putting and some are just all about spreading divisivness wanting to enforce their worldview on you if you don't agree with them and use their terms. In either case, you responded perfectly for explaining the use of "guys".

Just heard them live 2-1-18 at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium (be jealous, everyone!) and they blew us away with a good, long show. Wonderful to see how Johanna has become a very capable electric bassist and I love how she sings more songs solo. But it's that sibling blend they treat us to that really gives me chills. Wait till you hear their cover of Heart's "Crazy on You!"
@kenandersson56436 жыл бұрын
@Keith Hyman. Here's one who's jealous, especially since Emmylou was in the audience, would have loved to sit next to her... :-) And I'd also really like to have heard the cover they made of the Louvin Brothers. Here's smart phone recording of it but the audio is a bit thin but better than nothing. I hope it sounded better live facebook.com/mike.savage.104/videos/10156352886270827/

I didn't know Emmylou was there, Ken. FAK performed the Louvin Bros. song, "When I Stop Dreaming," for their first encore number. What a contrast from "Crazy on You!" It was just Johanna, Klara, and their mandolin/pedal steel player, Melvin Duffy, who also sang banking vocals. First time I saw Emmylou in person was at a Thistle & Shamrock show when we were standing in line to enter the auditorium (Blair on the Vanderbilt Univ. campus in Nashville); she was alone. Here I am standing right next to this stunning beauty with gorgeous locks of white, wavy hair. It took me a moment to realize who she was. Here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pamxkoSgr6ZlqtE

Thanks. I've seen Emmylou several times here in Sweden. The last time was at a place called "Dalhalla" 8/01/17. (First time I saw her was in Gothenburg at the end of the 70's). I believe Klara is playing the guitar that Jack White bought for her in this video. He told her to write a song on it and this was the song she came up with.
@Chronic_Town6 жыл бұрын
Judging from the logo, she appears to be playing a guitar built by Swedish luthier David Sundberg www.sundbergguitars.com/ here. Seems unlikely that Jack White bought that for her. Are you perhaps referring to the 1928 Gibson with a mandolin-like headstock that she posted about (in terms of it being wonderful but too expensive) and ultimately ended up playing? Didn't know JW bought that for her - but perhaps doesn't seem too unlikely. Where did you read about that?
@Hatchetrick6 жыл бұрын
Found the article and picture. It appears this is indeed the same guitar in the pic and talked of in the article. instagram.com/p/BHsZUP7DzMR/?hl=en&taken-by=firstaidkitband consequenceofsound.net/2018/01/first-aid-kit-ruins-stream-track-by-track/ “Nothing Has To Be True” was written in Nashville. We’d been to Carter Vintage Guitars where we saw this incredible guitar. It was a custom made, one of a kind Gibson from the 20s with gorgeous star decorations. It was the most beautiful guitar we’d ever seen. The price tag was no joke though. We posted a photo of Klara holding it on Instagram. That same night we had plans to meet up with our friend Jack White. At the end of our dinner, he told us he had gifts for us. He had bought the guitar (!!!) as well as a beautiful mandolin to go along with it. The guitar came with a note that said “write one for all of us on this piece of wood.” So we did.
@Chronic_Town6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the link! Pretty clear it's that guitar, I'd say. You can also see Klara playing it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2HYg4Opi5lgjM0 (In this video we're commenting on though, she is indeed playing a David Sundberg guitar.)
