I have to agreeeeee I was born in 1965and the original sound of music is best with julie Andrew's and Christopher plummer and the rest of the entire cast

Just her singing of the first song is enough to turn me off this performance. The modern singing is awful and totally devoid of the sweetness of correct classical singing.

'59, so joined the record breaking months long viewing of 'the sound of music' in Tucson, and agree the opening sweeping shot with the helicopter whipping around and knocking Julie down so they had to film again and again, can't be beat. But Carries version is a filming of the stage production, not redoing the film so. I admit a black nun in 1930's Germany is a jarring anachronism, but remember, the kids, his girlfriends and Chris Plummers singing was embellished or replaced, in the film!

Maria Von Trapp. Sorry typo. Also I feel as though Julie has a better voice for this part. She had a voice that moved you. Carrie isn’t as moving beautiful her voice may be.

Carrie Underwood's tone is too hard for the song. It needs a light and airy voice that blends with the music.

No disrespect to the actress singing… However, her tone & range, whatever the technical term is, it is not the same as it was sung in the original. To me, this actress sounds like typical stage singing. I don’t feel anything she is singing. It’s not light & doesn’t provoke emotions. Good singers you hear the music, great singers you feel the music.
