I’m so curious about this because we know little of the specifics other than that most Blackfyre supporters were in the Reach and Stormlands - because apparently Daemon Blackfyre was doing so well that at some point he _minted his own coinage._

Minting coinage does not by itself a strong support base make. Rather, it is in universal acceptance of that coinage and/or the ability to trade it with other currencies at favourable rates that make it worth something. Daemon being able to mint coins shows that his supporters possessed gold and a mint with that, but it doesn't mean much by itself, since we don't know to what extent his coin was used or how much he made. Likely it was valued equivalently to a 'standard' Gold Dragon thanks to identical materials, but given the fact that no Lords Paramount supported Daemon, it could not have been used outside of lands he already had sway over (and thus could not serve a purpose to extend his influence). The fact that his coins were similar enough to Daeron's as to pass entirely unnoticed by the smallfolk shows that his intended target was literate lords who could use the coin to show support. Overall, Daemon minting coins is much like Daemon wielding Blackfyre- a useful symbol and a way to reinforce his legitimacy IF he wins, but not a show of strength by itself and not a factor in the overall cause of House Blackfyre. I am reminded of the time Liu Bei minted his own coins during the Three Kingdoms era and succeeded only in crashing his own economy.

100% not Daemon's fault. I will always blame Aegor, Peake, and Bloodraven's paranoia. I don't think Daemon was ever really interested in rebelling until his hand was forced by others.
@madambutterfly19979 ай бұрын
"Red or Black a dragon is still a dragon" a very immature sentiment to say the least, considering the two dragons may share the same blood but they represent two different things and putting a Blackfyre on the throne can never be the same as putting a Targaryen on the throne regardless of the fact that they are both descendants of Aegon the Conqueror

Is there a rebellion was built on two things the fact that Daemon had The Sword and the long dead belief that Daeron was a bastard of Aemon the Dragonknight. For the former part a sword by itself cannot be seen as the true symbol of a Targaryen king and the rightful heir to the throne because of the simple fact that that's where it could easily be in the hands of a complete nobody does that nobody become the rightful heir to the throne just because they have a sword. It was clear that they were grasping at anything, now that there were no more dragons and thus no more Dragon Riders that one thing that could prove legitimacy by virtue of only individuals of Valyrian ancestry can ride dragons The latter part was fucking stupid, since Aemon is nothing like Jaime. Yes he loved his sister but he was clearly a better man. Jaime was an impressionable child who practically set up for failure when he joined the Kingsguard
@aegorbittersteel21549 ай бұрын
I don't know I could believe it nothing like what Jamie did but more like one night of finally giving into passion. Also while it might seem silly the sword was held by every King before and it was more about who King Daemon Blackfyre was as a person I doubt if Blackfyre was given to Bloodraven or Bittersteel the people would call for them to be King.

Make sense that Daemon Blackfyre side would win a lot of the early battles as he had more support from the Knights and more martial inclined lords. Maybe the King should've summoned his brother to come to court to discuss matters instead of trying to have him arrested. If he refused that would've gave him a legitimate reason to act. Either way, such a shame things came to this for Daemon Blackfyre and King Daeron ii. I wouldn't be shocked if George had the rebellion kicked off from a mistake. I also lean on the side of Daemon being the brother that Brynden loved.
