I like burn because it attacks him writing which he is more proud of. In first burn she just attacks him. Also, I like the line in burn where she goes, "And you are paranoid at every paragraph how they perceive you You, you, you." Because its basically her telling him that he only cares about himself and his reputation rather than his wife and kids.

I love both, I feel like first burn is like Eliza’s thoughts and burn is how she made her point and attacked him personally. She remains calmer in burn and sophisticated and I love that. First burn is what Eliza originally wanted to do, burn is Eliza realizing staying more calm and attacking him on a more deep level will hurt him more like how he hurt her.

I love the lyrics and power in their voices in first burn, but I feel it didn’t exactly fit Eliza’s character as much as burn did, because in burn she was not really confrontational but more as if she was silently burning away her memories, and she was also meant to get not permanently leave Hamilton. The reason they kept Burn instead of First Burn is because Burn is just a slander to him cheating. Whereas First Burn is an all out attack on Hamilton. The writers knew that Alexander and Eliza would get back together eventually so they had to write it so Eliza hadn’t totally cursed their relationship. They are both good songs but yeah!
